I was changing oil when I noticed very little oil coming out of of the oil tank. I began swapping out spark plugs and noticed a large amount of oil around the seal of engine wear head gasket is next to the dip stick. Some of the oil had a gloss to it so i suspect it’s fresh. Is it possible that I am burning/leaking oil do to head gasket? Based on the images I have posted would you say I need to swap my head gaskets?

I also have to replace my coolant every 3 weeks and the inside of the reservoir is coated with black gunk as seen in photos. Could this be related to head gasket or is this a separate issue.

Please refer to images. I would reallyappreciate the help

This would indicate to me you're burning coolant. Does the truck ever smoke when its running? white smoke specifically?

i would imagine that your head gaskets are toast and that oil getting into your coolant, and vice versa with coolant getting in your oil. How did the oil look when you changed it? Like chocolate milk?

The first pictures indicate Valve Cover leakage.
The Second set of pictures with the Coolant Reservoir indicates a Head Gasket failure.

    this exactly ^^

pull sparkplugs and check for one or more plugs much much cleaner than the others and maybe wet. that will be the cylinder getting water

probably middle one on driver side

    Too few to list.
At 280K, your HG has done good for being the old design.

Wow! Twice as many miles as I have on my ‘05. Although it still sucks, that’s a long life for any gasket, let alone the infamous 05/06.

How hard can it be? Wouldn't I just follow the numerical steps in the diagram kinda like I do with a walmart dresser? Then end up with extra bolts and gaskets but say to yourself "really don't need it, it'll be fine".

Yeah, looking at that pic, there's only 32 parts. It can't be that difficult.

I saved the diagram for future reference if my HG fails. I'll do a detailed writeup following the diagram and see if we can make it a sticky. Probably can have it done between my kids soccer games on a saturday.

Be aware Toyota does NOT recommend milling the cylinder heads. At least that’s my layman’s understanding...

Meh. Done it on plenty of heads. Just order a head gasket to closely match what was removed, if it is not warped to terribly bad.
