Yeah might need a few washers in there to drop the CB.

Id take it back for the brake issue but the vibe seems normal for a lifted truck :bananadead:

I've just kinda lived with the minor vibe that I have under 5 mph, it's no the bearing in the diff either because I put it in 4wd and it's still there. Ah well :burnrubber:

Yeah usually I'd Google a shit ton to get an idea but too many options out there. Didn't know if 3rd gen peeps had had any specific issues before with it before

I do recall, now that you mention it, people discussing dropping the carrier bearing. But... upon further reflection, I thought I asked about this a while back, and the reply was to the effect: "Don't worry about it... your 1st gen doesn't have this issue."

Am I remembering incorrectly -- do you need to drop the carrier bearing on 1st gens when doing a 3" suspension lift?

Only if you're getting vibes. I dropped mine because I thought it was that but turned out it wasn't. Turned out to be my tires. I have since left the washers there as nothing changed

Everybody says "drop the Carrier bearing"

But nobody says why...and the why is the best part of the information.
So here is why...you want the driveshaft at the rear end, to be as straight as possible with the Pinion shaft.
Usually after a lift, the alignment of the driveshaft and pinion will change just enough to cause a vibration at certain or maybe all speeds.
So dropping that bearing will help to bring it all back into alignment. Some only need a 1/2"
drop, others, like me, have up to a full inch of drop.
So do that first, and see if it goes away. If it's still there and hasn't changed, then it's something else.

Yes and unfortunately a lot of people are told to just buy a center support bearing drop and think their vibes will just go away and then they get mad when they throw money at it and it seems to do nothing. Sometimes that works but its generally not that simple. It's not a 1 size fits all solution. The pinion angle also comes into play and depending on your truck an axle shim might also be necessary. Every truck is different so YMMV

Before throwing money at a random carrier bearing drop solution, I encourage people to read this thread:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/drive-shaft-vibrations-solved-step-by-step.244535/

    Lots of good info there.

Then spend a few dollars on an angle finder and some washers and longer bolts. You can correct the pinion angle with a shim, and then the bearing drop is about fine tuning the two pieces of the shaft so they are in harmony. They are very finicky. It's a pain in the ass and involved a lot of trial and error stacking washers, driving the truck, and seeing if the vibes go away or start occurring at a different speed. 1/16 of an inch can make all the difference.

When that doesnt work, bite the bullet and buy a one piece drive shaft.

I also added a 3 degree tapered shim at the axle, along with the CB drop. Almost forgot about.

Take it back to the dealer. It worked fine before, now it doesn't. They may give you trouble with the lift + vibrations, but the brake issue is on them.

    TELL ME WHERE.

Hit or miss. I don't have any vibes and I have the same setup as you - down to the axle relocation plates. I remember feeling some type of little clunk when coming to a stop right after putting on my new OME suspension but it went away years ago. Never noticed an ABS issue like you mention.
