    The mating surface on the oem hinge is molded so I would just run into the same issue because the mating part of the hinge on the after market mirror is what holds the actuator. Katie said she just did a swap on another set of mirrors. I have a feeling there’s several varieties of mirrors and some work and some don’t.

    If it was just a gap issue I wouldn’t care, I would just use it. Problem I have is it’s only clipping in on one side.

    @20tacoma17 had the same issue.
    He said that it would work if you filled the gap with black silicone to hold it in place.

    It is possible that the non tech mirror is molded differently.

    I remember during the testing phases that heated mirror only that are compatible with the power folding motor where harder to source.
    Also the reason why the non-tech mirrors are unavailable for Option 3.

    So I just tried to do some test fitting with my OEM mirrors.
    Learned that the driver side and passenger side are different in size.
    And that the covers on my OEM fit perfectly with my power mirrors, which should mean Meso's puddle lights will fit.
    DSC_1744.jpg

    So I am guessing there are variations in the mirrors we got.

    Katie and I were working on different builds at the same time. We tried ordering different part # mirror sets and she would get what would work for me and Visa versa. Mostly slight difference in the hinge area but everything else was pretty much the same. I have both tech and non-tech aftermarket mirrors and the puddles would fit almost perfectly with a slight gap and clips would not engage in some places on some. In one case I tape off some nice lines and filled gap with black silicone. Looked ok and held in place great. Just not good enough to sell my mirrors with mt OCD but they would work just fine and nobody would know unless they looked underneath.

    Paid!!

    I think I’m going to build my own puddle lights when I install since getting meso anything is a crapshoot/near impossible.

    I entered email to find out when they come in. Didn’t either these or something else sell out in seconds/minutes last time?

    Most all his stuff sells out in minutes the first 2 or 3 rounds when he makes 100 or less. Now that he's done a few rounds and doing a big batch you have a much better chance.

    Interesting. I might try this. Thanks for the info!

    In any case, puddles or not, I’m loving these mirrors. After I finished installing I just kept locking and unlocking the doors to see the mirrors fold and unfold......:D This is a fantastic mod!!

    I wonder if this is the reason I couldn’t swap the hinge. I have tech-mirrors, but bought the non-tech mirrors because I disabled my BSM when I installed my steel rear bumper.

    If you look at MESOs Install Guide for the Passenger Mirror, Check Pg. 11, You have to Remove a Small Plastic Rib Inside Stock Mirror for Clearance in order for the Puddle Light to sit in the Mirror correctly. I’m not sure if that is an issue some of you guys are running into with his Puddle Pods, but just wanting to put that out there. I’m sure that could be a big part of why it’s not sitting Flush at least on the Passenger Side.

    I believe it is on some aftermarket mirrors, the cavity is larger when compared to OEM.
    Thus it will sit flush, but leaves a gap on one side that prevents the clip on that side from engaging.

    Actually I was having the issue on the driver side so I didn’t bother test fitting the passenger side.

    Just to clear things up;
    My Puddle pod housings were modeled directly after OEM Toyota lower mirror plastics. 3D scanned so they are a mirror copy for fitment.(IN FACTORY MIRRORS)
    There are a slew of aftermarket side mirror company’s out there and everyone seems to have a slightly different dimensional mold.
    From @20tacoma17 pictures of his aftermarket mirrors(not sure which brand)
    The pods snapped in, but there was a gap on the inside edge. Functionality they will work, but if you have OCD It might bug you a bit.
