Fuel pump 3rd gen tacoma

Anyone ever encountered a fuel pump failure on their 3rdgen tacoma ? I have a 19 trd sport 4x4 and recently had the trac off- CEL light on , the other day while driving motor shut off and died out . Took to the dealer and said they found the pump assembly failed but they were not sure if that was the only problem

 

Sounds like an uncommon problem.

Yeah tried looking to see if anyone else had this problem but didn’t find anything for the 3rd gen . Dealer also told me 3 codes popped up during diagnostics but did not tell me what it was . They said it’s gonna be 2 weeks total that the trucks gonna be at the shop bc shipping to Hawaii takes longer but when I asked if that’s the only problem they found they said “we are gonna start with the pump and go from there “

 

Any idea what the codes were? Sucks delears are parts swappers.

 

damn, that sucks....Lemon Law....kidding, hopefully it's just the fuel pump and you get your truck back in a timely manner, maybe ask for an extended warranty?

Pretty sure I got the extended warranty truck got the truck brand new about 5 months ago

I had the Trac Off, Check Engine Light come on 3 times within last 2 weeks. Did the tighten gas cap thing which didn’t fix the problem on my 19 Sport, which I’ve had for 7 months. Filled the gas tank up and waiting to see if it pops up again on 1/4 tank. Pulled code Fuel Rail/System Pressure too low. I too live in Hawaii, BI. Have an appointment with BI Hilo Toyota this Monday. Hope it’s a minor issue.

 

Kona side. Mines started Monday took it in to the kona dealer this morning . Hopefully yours isn’t the same issue . I did try the gas cap but yesterday truck died out and hopefully they tell you what the deal is . Kona didn’t sound to confident that it was the problem

Brah! I’ll tell them to look at your worksheet to zero in on the problem. My truck hasn’t stalled (yet), but close to it. Safety concern especially when turning off busy highways..Need my truck and 4x4 for work, rental car isn’t an option with country roads here.

 

Foreal ! Tell them compare cause no like wait 2 weeks to be completed . I was weak about it being down but I have a work van so I only use it on weekends for holoholo but still shitty dealz

 

Possibly another failed CPS? This was a common issue early on. Despite the updated part, i'm not necessarily sold on the idea that it is no longer an issue.

 

Will definitely tell Hilo Toyota you have the same Truck with same issues on the West side of the Island. I have a game plan, if the issue happens at 1/4 tank, I’ll keep topping off the fuel until they get suggested parts. Rental? no can...

Oh boy, big sigh... Not sure of the technical stuff, I think I see a lift. Toyota lifted my truck 3 months ago, Toytech 3” Warranteed. All good until recently.... Uggh
