Obviously that's not the goal lol but sometimes shit happens. I usually leave my batteries tied together when starting or running but divorce them when winching. I don't pay enough attention to keep a jump pack like that charged up. Sometimes you might be put in a situation where the truck stalls out with the winching battery dead and you can't get out of the truck so I like to keep the second battery ready to go in case shit hits the fan.

Those jump packs hold their charge really well....mine hasn’t enough juice for something like 20 jumps and I only charge it once or twice a year, usually when I stumble upon it in the glove box. And let me tell you I’ve used it plenty in between charges

interesting, guess I am used to the old jump packs which were basically a lead acid battery with jumper cables and a switch connected. Maybe I'll have to invest it one, and add it to my "hidden winch" costs, damn this site always costing me money.

Yup, those Nocos are definitely lights years ahead of the old lead acid packs

Jump-starters have come a long way from the massive equipment they use to be; the Noco GB40 is enough for my small V8.

How often are you doing a self recovery with a long pull from the front only?
Go old manual crank to get out of a hole or stupid mud trick. Couple hundred bucks with the necessary accessories.

Holy fuck, thats a lot of amperage. Probably would want a battery that can handle that amperage being output from the alternator also.
