I will reinforce that Oban 14 is a good scotch but it is not $120 good.

I have a Shiny Barrel, but haven't opened it yet (just killed Teresa's and a Backyard BBQ in fairly recent times). For $70, I will never pass up a Booker's batch that I haven't had, however. I've heard pretty good things about Shiny Barrel, but can't say I can give you my personal impressions just yet.

Oban 18 is about $115 locally and it is an absolutely fantastic scotch. I don't buy $100+ whiskies all that often, but it'd be on the short list. I know I've had the 14, but it was at a get together some time ago and I can't recall it now. I'd have to check the notes. It's only about $70 locally, however.

Is there a Fine Wine & Good Spirits near you? Shows to be a PA chain and their website shows the Oban 14 for $85 and the Oban 18 for $115.

I had Voyage 12, but not cask strength. It was okay. The story is neat, but I'm not sure it does that much for the flavor.

I was just gifted a bottle of the Jefferson's Reserve Pritchard Hill Cabernet Cask Finish. The wine influence on both the nose and the palate is crazy strong. Perhaps a tad sweeter than I'd prefer, but an interesting pour none-the-less.

What do you think of Teresa's Batch? To me (and the wife) not a great batch. Too much peanut flavor.

Fine Wine and Good Spirits is the state run liquor system. You can only buy distilled spirits there. Used to be you could only buy wine there too but now some supermarkets are allowed to sell beer and wine.

Very non-traditional Booker's in that it had far more fruit notes than a typical batch...but I kind of liked it. I got a lot of dried raisins/dates on the palate. That signature oak, char, and cinnamon + black pepper spice was missing, however. Being out of character, a lot of Booker's fans didn't care for it, but it did recruit a handful of new people in to the Booker's fold.

I liked it more than most, but wouldn't really argue against anyone that wasn't a fan.

Terresa was only my second Bookers ever! First was Kentucky Chew. So I can't comment on the deviation from the norm. I enjoyed it. I can tell in comparison to Kentucky Chew it is an outlier. I'm not a refined palette person, but it was was less oaky than I've heard about Bookers. Not quite "dessert" whiskey but a sweeter touch to it. I have another bottle unopened and may stash a third for future studies

Not the best but not the worst on price. Seen as low as 55 (rare) normal for me is about 68-75.

Grabbed one today too. Had to see the hype...
