Not Tacoma related but I wanted to share this with everyone around the St. Louis area. I copy and pasted from my Instagram feed and I can't name names yet until the investigation ends.
I trusted them to look after my pup and I was picking him up Friday the 9th to take him back to California:

"I haven’t slept in almost 24hrs and this was not how I planned on coming back to St. Louis.
I received a call mid afternoon from the boarding facility telling me Zeke had a laceration in his paw but the vet recommended he be taken to the emergency vet.
An hour later I received another call from the vet telling me he may have fluid in his lungs and they’re recommending an MRI. I approved the MRI to try and diagnose his other symptoms.
Within an hour I received yet another call telling me he went into cardiac arrest. He did not survive.
We’re all still in shock that this all started from a cut. At least that’s what we’ve been told by the boarding and training facility. I was told to contact animal control to see what steps I should take to investigate what may have really happened. What’s more shocking is they never called me to see how I was doing or even acknowledge that he had passed away.
I still can’t believe it. He would’ve turned one year old next month. I flew in and drove to Mizzou to lay with him for a few hours and it was surreal.
If anyone out there has suggestions on what I should do or who I should contact, I greatly appreciate it."

Regrettably we hear about this from many states as not all boarding facilities - even those run by licensed veterinarians - have you or your pets best interest in mind. I’ve heard many sad tales from people who paid to trust these businesses to come back to a bill and a corpse. Demand documentation for everything and if a car did attend to your dog then their will be documentation for each issues. Take that and your dogs remains to a trusted vet and see if it passes their BS meter.

I hate to say it but your best friend may very well have been the victim of abuse and was already deceased when you got the “cut” notification. There are multiple boarders/trainers in Missouri that have horrible track records when it comes to humane care of their charges. Physical abuse to selling the animals to others are among the charges against more than a few.

Thats the one! thanks for all the well wishes! Truck will more than likely get totaled out with all the damage but we'll see. should be talking to the adjuster today sometime. @Taco16Jessy any words of wisdom how to handle this moving forward since you see these policies all the time? Any specific questions I should ask to get maximum benefit?

If that thing isn't totaled I'll be a monkey's uncle. but on that note the passenger cabin was completely intact, anyone that ever questioned the safety of a vehicle should look no farther than the 4Runner.

Truck was toast but he walked away with a couple scratches. Pretty unbelievable.

Now accepting monetary donations for mods!
I deal with the property(homes) side. I'll be in the auto liability office working on monday and can ask.

Only thing I know you might want to get started on is value of that truck. They may under value it. Find recent sales of very similar vehicles of yours condition etc and have it ready if they do.

Good luck. Insurance will tell you to F off unless you explicitly added extra coverage for any modifications.

That’s what we had to do last time. Find others that are out there to prove their numbers weren’t accurate.

They are universally going to try and pay out as little money as possible. That’s how insurance works.

That sucks but I’d much rather start over than deal with the aftermath of getting it repaired. It’ll never be right after.

At least your big 3 mod should be easier this time lol

did you investigate the estimated value for it?

    https://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/2016/Toyota/4Runner/Utility-4D-SR5-4WD-V6/Values

i don't know what options you have other than SR5 and mileage

values range from 26k to 31k on that table
