I miss not living across the street from a college campus. Improved my riding 1000 fold on mega staircases and urban features.

Thanks man. I made he toolbox after someone ran a stop sign and hit the side of my truck. It was all dead space anyway, beside the fuel fill and the leaf spring mount, it was pretty simple to mount after I built it.

In that case let me apologize for assuming your one off toolbox was a premade unit. It looks like a production model on a lot of flatbed trucks.

Pass it. It claims to be a chameleon 3, but looks more like a 1 or 2. Honestly lots more stuff available that has more modern day features. You would have a rough time upgrading anything on that bike.

Worldwide is dope. Great customer service and hilarious emails. They messed up one of my orders and went above and beyond to fix it. JensonUSA is still one of my LBS’s but I try to order form worldwide when I can because they treated me so well

I agree. They are great. And they have about the best prices I can find online.

Doing a road trip up to Port Townsend, Washington next week. Was planning on getting in a quick ride or two. Have my sites set on Mountain of the Rogue in Rouge River, OR.. anyone hit that before?

    Any recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a platform hitch rack? Id prefer one that you can drop down/swing out and access the bed. Im looking at the Rocky Mounts Monorail. The dream rack would be the Rocky Mounts Backstage. Since it swings out and everything. But $600 is a bit much. Id prefer to stay at or under $400. Im sure it has been asked before but I cannot find a concise answer. Thanks in advance

I think you're going to have a very hard time finding a swinging platform-style hitch rack for under $600. In fact, most options that tilt or swivel out of the way are even higher than that -- and that's for just 1 or 2 bikes!

They very quickly become $900+ for 3 or more bikes.

You might get lucky and find a used one under $500, but they're few and far between.

And yes, I think we universally agree that this sucks... :(

Hate to tell you, but any combo of platform rack + swingout (monorail + an added swingout) or platform with swing out built in (backstage) will run you north of $400.

And yes the question has been asked numerous times. I'm guilty of asking myself so don't feel like I'm busting your balls.

I know the swingouts are expensive. Im asking about anyone in general. A swing out would be great but I know it is out of my budget

If you're just looking at overall platform suggestions I'll offer what I've learned/researched so far.

My main goal was/is to get a platform rack that will allow me to open the tailgate and not contact the rack while in its horizontal (parallel to the ground) and/or tilted (away from the truck) position. This may sound easy, but there are more racks that contact the tailgate than those that don't.

These are the winners for that goal:
    1upUSA (any model)
    Yakima Dr.Tray
    Thule ProXT
    Kuat Sherpa
    RockyMount Splitrail

From what I have gathered, all others make enough contact to be eliminated from my search. I have other criteria that I am using to focus down my purchase.

Edit: I should have added the Backstage to that list. The swing out clearly eliminates any tailgate contact. Its just not expandable beyond 2 bikes so its low on my shortlist.

I appreciate it. We are clearly on the same wavelength. Our goals are the same.
