Not true. I was trained to find as much coverage as possible to pay as much as I can on claims.

Its understanding your policy and how it works. Unfortunately any auto policy is going to be actual cash coverage because they inherently lose value.

The value they have for any vehicle in a total loss is likely to gather numbers throughout the country. Not what it would cost to buy similar in your particular area. Thus discrepancies exist.

Tho they way I describe to customers is it's not all said and done until it's all said and done. Do whatever they ask of you in documentation. Which is what gets things moving.

Read your policies thoroughly for auto, home, life etc. Its all written there.

For example, in a partial loss you may find they replace parts with shit from china.... well if you read the policy it states they can chose to use aftermarket....how do you get around this? Welp I added extra coverage for OEM parts on my policy. Cost $20. To me it's worth it.

    good info
i have bickered with my agent about what is to happen to me should i get hit and the other driver has geico (or similar co.) and cannot cover my loss
he had absolutely no clue what will happen and what the process is
what happens when vehicles seem to stop losing value and perhaps start increasing value?
    its very perplexing

Usually the agent doesn’t have a clue and even adjuster to adjuster it will vary based on their interpretation of the policy. I’ve gone way too far down that rabbit hole, I could write a book.

One thing I learned from this job is agents are idiots lol.

In the case of you being hit by someone else. If its the same way property works(not 100% certain) Your company gets you settled upfront and works with the other company to get the funds back. This definitely comes into play if the motorist was under insured or uninsured. That's another are I upped my coverage on. Liability too. I dont want 100k in debt for totaling someones Maserati.

When vehicles start appreciating again you should look for a specialty policy/company for classic cars.

The agents have minimal knowledge if the policies and what's covered unless they've taken it upon themselves to learn or have been around for ages.

Try to see if you can get a hold of a local adjuster for your company and theyll know everything in and out.

I learned about the endorsement for oem parts from a local auto adjuster. Called my agent and he didnt know about it. Called me back 15min later and got it added on.

Exactly rabbit hole. I've covered losses my tenured coworkers told me not to. The files got audited and I was fine. .... I've fought with my supervisor 4x now about policy. But what do I know... I'm just the adjuster who reads these things every day.

    *should*

Usually in the fine print of the policy, there’s some tiny amount of modifications covered. If it’s someone else’s insurance, it’s probably a crap shoot. I’ve got coverage added for my habitat, the rest of the stuff I have all the invoices for but it’s not explicitly listed on my policy.

The other thing is your belongings can be covered under your homeowners or renters policy. So if you lose a truck full of camping gear, you can cover it that way vs the auto policy which mine for example covers like $500 of personal property.

You can get all kinds of coverage, they’ll be happy to sell it to you. There’s a trade off between what that price is and if it’s actually worthwhile for you. Everyone is different but personally I roll with some lessor coverages and just know that the money I’m saving over time makes up for it in the event something happens.

:( I am SO sorry for your loss. Both my wife and I are huge animal lovers and my heart aches just reading this. I know it doesnt mean anything but I just wanted to let you know that we are thinking about you and your family. We hope this hardship results in some sort of justice and at the minimal some closure as to the truth of what happened.

Agree it is not listed on the policy but it is part of the truck:D ill be more than happy to remove all the parts and they can pay me back for truck or they can pay for everything on it supported by invoices. When i talked to the state farm agent he said documentation a million times.

I knew he didnt want to elude whether its covered or not because i know it will be a fight. So its either they give my shit back if they dont want to pay for it or they can pay for that shit for its cost because thats how much it will cost me to replace it

it was a ton of fun when my house got broken into. I had to make a list of everything that was stolen.... which they then referenced Amazon with the first link to pop up based on whatever I wrote. You can imagine the accuracy.

I talked to the adjuster and told them to go make a list of everything that is currently in their living room while sitting at their desk... shits impossible.

Good thing is @Willy224 talked them Into letting us "get his belonging out of/off of" the truck, so Monday after work we'll be happily wrenching everything off his 4 Runner, including the tires and wheels.... Finally found a use for my rollers!
