FYI $50 rebate from Tirebuyer. Plus they have 4.5% cash back on ebates. Just pulled the trigger on my order. Rebate is only good until tomorrow.

Finally pulled the trigger to pick up the Wildpeaks 265/75 R16 SL 116T. Loving the tires!! They ride really comfortable and no road noise. $575 installed with tire protection from local Evans Tires. Amazon had these at $109 a tire last month.

I am getting a bit of shaking going 55+ mph. Anyone know what is causing this? Balance or alignment? I did get an alignment when the tires were installed.

Two of the four that I ordered were out of round. Apparently it’s a pretty common issue.

The tire guys at Discount mentioned these are a bitch to balance reliably. Mine seem OK but he said to watch them. Too bad, such a sweet looking tire.

Correct. Getting a good set is also very hit or miss. I went through 3 tires before finally getting a acceptable set. Not sure if I will replace with same tires. Mine are wearing very fast. Might get 35K at best out of them.

I have a couple hundred miles on my Falkens. They feel like I'm riding on a cloud. Not much road feel or input. I don't seem to have any balancing issue at the moment. I plan to head out to Big Bear and take a trail to see how they feel off-pavement.

I have noticed a decreases in fuel economy. I also feel like I need to hold a lower gear for a longer period of time before shifting. We'll see how they hold up. If they don't hold up, I'll probably go with BFG's since they've never let me down (had 2 sets and been happy).

For now, I'm happy with the Falkens other than the "riding on a cloud" feel. I guess I expected a "harder" tire with a bit more road feel. These tires give that "rides like a Cadillac" feel.

What psi are y'all tires at? Evans papers says 35psi but my truck reads 37-38.

So after reading this thread I am now on the fence. Is the balancing issues with SLs in general or specific to the falken? Going to get new tires over the next couple weeks at DT (standard size 265/70/16) but concerned about the hassle with these

I will not be buying these tires again. As much as I like the look, snow performance & cost the negatives out weigh the positives. I just cant stand the constant shimmy & the last straw is the fast tire wear.

I had to get 6 to get 4 good ones. I’ve read some guys who went through 10 to get 4 good ones. I decided when the extra 2 were coming that if they weren’t good I was gonna go to something else. My understanding is that it’s very hit and miss. Some get lucky.

The vibration pretty much is gone for me now, put about ~200 miles on the tires.

I do also notice the decreased in mpg and holding a lower gear longer before shifting... again, Toyota did geared these to have better fuel economy. I do plan to regear to 4.88 with Nitro-Gear.

I've been noticing a dramatic decrease in MPG's.
I ran 4.88 gears through my calculator and RPM's will be a little high on the highway with these sized (diameter) tires.

    Toyota 3.98 2.02 1.32 1.00 0.85 0.71 (Gear Ratios: 1 through 6)

I calculated that 75 MPH is about 2,755 RPM's and 80 MPH will be about 2,950 RPM.

It seems a little high to me, but maybe with added weight (like bumpers and a winch) and additional height the RPM's will be about right since you'll need to rev a bit more to make power.

How much of a decrease are you seeing with the Falkens? Are you using stock size?

Same thing happened to me, only had them a few days but definitely noticed the mpg drop. Seems like a significant drop

That sounds like a heavier tire (stock size is heavier too) and the fact that the calibration doesn’t account for the new size. Did you calculate manually?

My speedo is more accurate with the 265/75’s vs stockers, like spot on now. Wonder if Toyota was counting more miles traveled when stock? Neat way to inflate mpg claims.
