Deer hunting BS thread

Hoping to get in the woods and do some hand raking tomorrow for a couple more small plots . I have a couple bags of seed that need to go down in August according to the bag . Mossy Oak Biologic mix of some sort ,No plow type stuff . Gonna suck with a hurting back and shoulder but I gotta do it !

 

Anybody us the 6.5 Creedmoor for deer? I would be in Eastern PA, so extremely long shots would top out at about 200 yards. I'm thinking about the Tikka T3X lite stainless for the rainy days.

 

I read in the NRA hunter magazine that the 6.5 is the most popular big game cartridge now .

 

Same here, I've read a lot of buzz about it, but I haven't talked to anyone with firsthand experience.

I actually live in New England, but my family is in the Scranton area. We hunt near Blooming Grove off of I-84

 

I live near the borders of Ma. and Ct

i (still) don't see the draw of the creed. it doesn't offer anything that isn't already out there really on a .308 case for that matter... I mean im not knocking it; im sure it is a great round in it's niche but that is, to me, exactly what it is; a niche round. I mean how many hairs can be split between a .260 and a 7mm-08?
but if you are in the market for a new gun and that's what you want.. by all means, don't let someone on the internet talk you out of it

yep! the charts/ballistics Ive seen, 270 out performs the creedmore. Not saying its a bad round either, just not as impressive as it sounds when you stack it up to a .270.

I think the draw is that is an extremely accurate round out past 1,000 yards carrying speed as well as KE. Long bullets tend to have a better BC and do really well past "normal" shooting distances. For me and my typical whitetail hunting (200-300 yards) it won't do anything better than my .243. That said, my next AR build will most likely be in 6.5 CM just because it would be different.

 

nice! Id put some holes in the buckets at the top of the concrete otherwise it might collect there and rot it out. if it rains there a lot...

 

We filled them up to the top with more concrete so the water won't pool. Thanks.

Yes we do. Thanks it is solid, all pressure treated lumber and galvanized hardware.
