I went with 352 springs and 220 struts as I threw on a front bumper. I’m close to 2-3/4” in the front, I need to measure better on flat ground. My OMEs were at 22.25” hub to fender and I believe I am at 23.75” now.

It’s heavier plus the nose is further out past the wheelbase so added torque on the front suspension.

The nose being 3in further out is literally all plastic. The core support / motor etc are literally in all identical places to the 2nd gen.

Motor weight of the entire GR family (1GR in the 2nd gen and 2GR-FKS in the 3rd) are all within 30 lbs of eachother.

I'm surprised to hear the 700# numbers. As far as I know, and what Fox told me, is that stock is a 13", 600# spring. It may be the case that OR and Pro are stiffer. But in any case, I have a 14", 700# in there now. It's stiffer for sure and that's with a winch, dual battery forward of the axle and bumper (though it's aluminum). I run without the swaybar.

I thought about that as well. I know the length of springs on coilovers are much shorter 13-14" vs 15-15.75" (380-400mm). I wonder if coils for coilovers are lighter because of the valving used in the shock itself?? Maybe with the valving they use, a 600lb spring would mimic stock and 700lb would support extra weight???? Hopefully someone who knows more than me will come along.

I was thinking the same thing.. I know the 1GR-FE and 2GR-FKS are very close in weight to each other. Cant imagine where the extra 300 lbs would come from.

ideally, you'd be just using valving to control the spring and not support the vehicle. You can spoof spring rate (maybe 50lbs) with increased pressure, but it isn't the way I would setup a truck that way from the start and I would suspect the damper would fade quicker.

Exactly. Nearly identical front suspension, front diff, steering rack radiator etc etc etc.... absolutely no way there is 300lbs extra on the nose of the truck.

I'm sorry to hear this crap about the OME springs. I bought a front set a while back and just installed them yesterday. They are only 50# 40# heavier than stock.

I had 5100's on the truck and I put the clip at lowest position as I'm not trying to lift the truck. This may have been a mistake as the 5100s seem very weak now.

If you don’t have added weight, I think you’ll be fine.

    Mostly stuff I built.
I am running OME 886coils on mine and they have sagged to the point that I have roughly 1” lift over stock. Full steel bumper, winch, full steel 3/16” skids. No way the 660lb coils are enough for my configuration.

I want to balance the truck to kill the tacolean.

My thought was to move the battery below the passenger seat, outboard the frame.

I'll have to build a custom carrier. I have some 19ga steel sheet.

I was going to add a bull bar of some description.

If I had a skinny 12v battery like my '59 Edsel it could go behind the seat.
But I'd have to enclose and vent it.

Underslung, it is prone to theft, so the carrier must be solid and key-locked or secured from inside the cab.
But I don't 4WD so no worries about ever high-centering in this truck. It can hang down a few inches

Isn't the OR coil a progressive rate?
    Kind of apples and oranges...

Is it considered kosher to just lift the clip on the left shock only, to aid alignment/ride height?

The OME springs were one coil taller than the stock springs and they went right in. But they didn't appear any thicker than the springs I had.
I just used the truck to compress them. Easy peasy. But . . .
    ts3.jpg
I was just about to bolt the anti-sway bar link back in, when OOPS! Can you see my error?

I didn't index the spring & seat! I had to let it down and re-seat it.

My 2018 sport dclb has 5100s on 4th setting and stock coils. The ride is much better than the stock shocks. I'm running a one inch block in the rear, 1/4 shim for the lean. I have posted this several times my neighbors dclb with now two sets of 888 have sagged and it rides litterlyt same as my sport.
