Front Coil Spring Rates Pro, OR, Sport, SR

It's not the nose of the truck. It's the electronics, airbags, sheet metal, frame, moon roof, transmission, motor, etc, all the little changes to the entire truck add up to 300 #'s.

 

Apples to apples as far as config, ill be weight differences are within 100lbs. Also... all that weight is BEHIND the rear axle so load is shared between front and rear axles.

Stiffer spring rate of the 3rd gen is for slightly higher ride height and more sporty feel compared to the boat like ride of the 2nd gen.

Yep thanks for finding this. Not sure why it’s so hard for people to understand the 3rd gens have a heavier coil for supporting the front weight easier. It’s like the difference of holding a 10# weight at your chest and then with arms extended out

Even after speaking with a Toyota tech, he even agreed the 3rd gens are heavier based on the dims and how the weight is distributed thus needing heavier coils

 

Agree. No way the stock front coil is rated 700lb. I replaced my Offroad front coil with B6112 coils and it was much much better/noticeably firmer. Keep in mind that the coil that came with B6112 are rated 610lb. I replaced that with Eibacj/King 700# and it is totally harsher than the two i replaced. People usually upgrade to 650lb. 700lb is totally a different beast.

 

I tried this today and I could not get the thing together. I put the left shock up one and left the right on the bottom, but I haven't driven it yet.

I have a DCLB 2012 with 45k miles. The springs are OME 884x.

OK so they're 40#/" heavier than the stock ones were 7 years ago . . .
That's about what I was hoping for.

 

Just to recap, we’ve found the OR springs at around 715lbs. The Pro are fox which can be found. Anyone know the Sport and SR spring coil rates?

I'd be willing to bet that all 4x4 springs are the same, but that the shocks are valved differently between them all.

2x's, well they are significantly lighter so I'm guessing they are going with a lighter spring for those. But not a lot of folks around here really care.

For everyone else that can't believe the third gen has a 700# + coil, then tell that to @Toytec Lifts because then they must be lying about their test results.

 

I would like to see the spec sheet they alluded to, but never posted.

Thanks guys! It worked! 1/4" spacer wouldn't have done it.
But this truck is within a smidgen of perfect.
I'm gonna bow out and go post details in the Gen2 room.

 

So is there any confirmation that stock springs are 700+ lbs?
