Oh man I hate the Salton Sea...I mean it's a cool place in a post apocalyptic Mad Max kind of way...but I've been there enough times for one lifetime. I did my graduation project out there and was out there 8 or so times in 6 months back in 2011.

The little town of Bombay Beach is pretty cool, almost totally deserted except for a few crazy people that choose to live there. But all the abandoned buildings, stores and homes are cool to check out. We found one that still had a cupboard of cans and cereal from at least the 1970s in it.

The beach of the Salton Sea is entirely composed of dead fish bones because it's too salty for any fish except Tilapia to survive in. To this day I won't eat Tilapia because of that place. In the summer time it smells awful

Oh yeah you can can smell it out for miles. at least to the SVRA ranger station there. No wonder no one is out there in the summertime, its like a ghost town.

yeah it's crazy to think that at one point Salton Sea was considered to be the next Las Vegas back in the 60s when they were building hotels and casinos out there. But the lake overflooded at some point in the 70s I think it was, and flooded out most of the homes and buildings near it and it became a ghost town after that. Still are people that live out there though, I talked to a few of them when I was out there and they have some crazy stories lol.

Salton Sea always stinks like dead fish.

yup, and now they are fighting to keep it from drying up because some animals have become dependent upon it being there

Also they say if it dries up, there's so much toxic material in the water and bottom of the lake that Palm Springs and other cities nearby would have to be evacuated from all the crap that would get in the air

I never knew about that, and just read an article about that place...crazy shit. Odd that life started to die in the late 70's after all that ddt had been used in farming for numerous years o_O

I miss wheeling my truck...installed my new tie rods a couple nights ago finally. Found a hole in one of the inner tie rod bellows and the steering rack had a bunch of dirt and grime in it, which isn't good. Supposedly that spells eventual death for the rack which makes me wonder why it isn't better protected from that.

Steering is a lot better now though, my original tie rods both inner and outer were loose as hell, especially the passenger side.

Just gotta work up the motivation to do my carrier bearing next and eventually LCA bushings...or maybe just new LCAs since the bushings are a bitch to do supposedly

Is there not another company that makes stock length LCAs for 1st gens? If TC was going to do it, it would be done already.
