I know this has been asked before but I can’t even find the search button. It could be from being 61 years old and somewhat puter savvy.
Anyway does the tail light come on when the radar detects a collision and brakes for me.
I have to admit I like the feature but ????? Somewhat iffy.

Welcome to the forum. The search box is up toward the right hand top of the page.

I wondered about the brake light during computer controlled braking myself.

What I eventually found, forget where, is that YES the brake light DOES work any time the brakes are applied, whether by the driver or the computer. This applies not only to Tacomas. It's a federal standard.

I’ve always wondered when you have radar cruise control on and it detects a car ahead (not a collision) but less space, so it slows down to get the required space, is it using brakes or downshifting/engine braking?

Depending on the situation, it may just back off on the throttle, or that and apply the brakes. You can easily tell when it applies the brakes. At least I can.
