I’ll do this tomorrow in hopes we can all get their attention. I really like the truck except these two issues.

Had mine done today. Just the axle TSB, they said the drums were fine and within spec. I’ve only drove about 25 miles so far but it’s a night and day difference. Smooth as butter now when stopping.

Just brought mine back in for 4th time, different guy rode with me.
He felt it immediately. Then did a test stopping from 50 using just the ebrake, considerably worse like that. Definitely pinpoints the problem is in the rear, you may want to try this as well on your ride alongs.
It took 4x before someone tried that on mine..

    Update:

Picked up my truck this morning. Night and day difference- and not just in the lack of shudder/rumble strip feeling. I have STOUT f’n brakes now lol. I wasn’t aware the drums were doing that much- perhaps some of the increased stopping power and firmness is due to a good bleed? Either way- truck rides smoother, decelerates without a shudder, and brake pedal feel and stopping power are greatly improved. Ended up doing both rear axles and drums... i think. Looking at the report it says both were replaced but i only see parts for one side.

Edit: they did both sides, Qty:2 ordered all right side parts lol

If you feel the rumble strip- GET THIS DONE

Here is the work order/parts for fixing the rumble strip vibes between 30-12mph on my 2019 DCLB TRD OR.

Note: the first time I came in (without Toyota having been contacted) they TURNED ME AWAY and said "It's fine."

After contacting Toyota they got right to work, and the truck really does feel 100% better. Toyota knows it's happening on TRDs, so go get it done. Tacoma Work Order.jpg

Dropped off my truck today to get the rear axle work done.

Hoping it works, otherwise I may for a Tundra.

Did the drum replacement make any difference for you?

Rear drums!! I had the same issue and had them replaced under warranty. I was told they had hot spots and warping. The only thing I could think of was hot weather driving while towing my camp trailer. Maybe drums were hot when stopped with the e brake engaged not letting the drum dissipate heat very well. Creating a hot spot. At least that was my theory. Anyways it was replaced and has been fine since.

Minimal, it was one of those things where you have to drive away because you've been without your truck a few days & you want to really drive it before you bitch again.
I knew in like 2 days it needed to go back but it took me a month.
When I brought it back in about 5 weeks ago, they had their regional expert ride with me take it apart himself. They returned my truck to me without fixing anything & told me everything was to spec.
Then, last week I said f it & took it back in. The regional guy was off that day so they gave me the 2nd in command. He rode with me & was like oh yeah, we need to fix this, something is going on in the rear. Just got it back after 3 days, they changed the axles. It's light years better but something feels a little amiss.
Gonna put some more miles on it & see..

I just put a readylift 2” level/lift kit on mine. It was dealer installed & already assembled on 2019 Off-Road shocks. The seller had plans to upgraded his entire suspension & sold everything to me for a good price. My truck has ridden fine for 30k miles until I put in this setup. I felt the shudder immediately. Did you ever get it checked out by a dealer? I have an apt setup for this Friday. I was completely up front & said it’s all Toyota equipment & dealer installed. He said as long as it’s not my mechanics fault (who swapped my stock struts, replaced shocks & added the 2” blocks with extended U bolts on the leaf pack) then he would perform whatever TSB they had. I’m worried he will blame the install from my trusted mechanic no matter what they find.

Got my truck back today. Night and day difference in braking. It was really touchy before plus the vibration. Now it brakes just like the Tundra loaner I had or our other vehicle.

I’m satisfied with the brake correction and Wyatt Johnson Toyota.

So did they expand this service coverage? I had this issue and they put on new drums but that was it. I feel like the issue is coming back.

I took mine in and the VIN fell just outside the TSB, but the dealer got corporate to approve the work.

They are most definitely approving work outside of the TSB/VIN... BUT you may not have any luck until you talk with Toyota. My dealer just shrugged the first time I came in, after calling toyota- I had an appt and everything was approved asap

My impression is that if you don’t make an issue of it, you’ll be left out unless they update the VIN range.

But my Service Manager seems to spend a lot of time dealing with this issue.
