I did negotiate. I gave up the vacation weeks for something else...I got the better end of the deal IMO.

 

Guess it kinda depends on where you are...

 

No clue down there. Sorry. Make your way up to the Northeast corner and I'll tell you all you need to know.

 

The casinos aren't far from you. There's also Mystic. Saybrook Point Inn and Fresh Salt are great spots for food/drink.

 

Mystic seaport or Mystic aquarium. If going to the beach, I suggest Misquamicut Beach in RI (just over the CT/RI border) or Ocean Beach in New London CT. Misquamicut is a real ocean beach with nice white sand and waves (as opposed to the LI Sound beaches in CT which aren't all that great IMHO). Ocean beach is nice but not on the "ocean".

 

Check out the griswold inn for lunch or dinner. Grab a rod and catch some fish at the mouth of the ct river

Another decent spot for food/drink is Bill's Seafood in Westbrook on route 1.

 

Or grab a ferry out of new London to block island.

Charter a boat and go striper fishing. Lots of great spots around there.

And plus 1 on bills seafood in Westbrook. I grew up in WB, but now live up state.

Stay away from waters edge; lots of yuppies.

 

Take a tour of the submarine base Naval naval base in Groton Connecticut the Nautilus submarine is there great museum and it FREE

Downtown Mystic for food, drink and mingling with the other tourists. Nice spot. Might be very busy with the outdoor art festival going on.

The submarine museum in Groton is worth the visit.

 

You just reminded me. Check out Stony Creek brewery in Branford. I bit of a ride from Old Saybrook, but a cool place.

 

The state DEEP Marine Headquarters are across the river from Old Saybrook. There is a boardwalk there that goes along the River. It’s not very long, but worth checking out. You may see people fishing, crabbing, etc.
