UPDATE: Before reaching arbitration, Toyota has agreed to a buy back. Thanks all for the insight.

Truck will probably go to auction and someone else will be stuck with it now lol

All they would have to do is avoid one specific car wash. Hell, if someone does buy it at auction, odds are they have never seen or will use that rinse thing. Even if they did, they probably would drive through instead of stopping where the water intrusion point is.

Just avoid it with a gen3....anything else would be ok.

Not a “wash,” worth using. So guess I’d be just fine.

Glad Toyota took care of you. Unfortunately your case was a clear cut loser unless you could prove that in some way the dealer knew that you purchased the vehicle for the specific purpose of washing it at that car wash or something along those lines (fitness for a particular purpose).

Likely Toyota determined it would be cheaper to buy back and sell it to someone else than pay the arbitration fees and their attorneys given the high resale on the Tacomas.

Loser? You mean a clear cut loser for Toyota, no automaker backs down from a winnable case.
OP's truck has legit flaw.. said flaw follows the rules of the Lemon Law.. a defect that cant be repaired in 3 attempts or under a set period of time.

Any judge would favor the plantiff over Toyota... THATS why they settled.

Not really, it’s a “defect” that no one but the OP could replicate, and then only at that one specific wash. Go through the thread and look at the video. Not even a standard wash. If I remember correctly, a garden hose wouldn’t even replicate it. Glad the OP got taken care of to his satisfaction, it was in no way an obligation by Toyota though.

You go back through the thread....Toyota replicated it with 2 vehicles....I did with 3 different vehicles....the last being with a well known member of TW....It can be replicated with all Gen3s....you take out the cabin filter in 2 seconds water is in the cabin

Where do you say that they were able to replicate the issue? Or that your well known TW buddy was also able to?

So you took out the cabin air filter and that’s what caused your leak?

This? This is the closest thing that maybe comes to saying Toyota replicated it with 2 vehicles. Which was just the trade in vehicle. Not seeing where you say you replicated it with 3 other vehicles? Also in your video, you are literally stopped under the full flow of water. Which is pouring more water in that one specific spot then even a monsoon would. Bet you get barely even a trickle going through.

No......taking out the filter detects the leak quicker....before it floods the floorboardd

Didn't know I was obligated to document every detail on TW....Just went through last week with the other guys truck......he was curious to see, as I claim and Toyota is not denying it is inherent to the design.....removed the filter so it wouldn't get soaked before it hit the floorboard

You’re not, but you said you replicated it like 5-6 times. I assumed that since you put all the rest of your business here, that would’ve been also. I mean you’re literally creating the perfect circumstances to create the defect. Honestly, it comes across as a lot of exaggeration so you can’t really blame anyone for looking for the actual facts about a “potential” issue that exists across the platform. Instead of a one off OR forced defect.

What was exaggerated? Didn't know you knew all my business.....What do you mean I created perfect circumstances? You think I went out and purchased a brand new Tacoma so I could make it leak and searched until I found the wash that would do it? I guess you do assume a lot. Can you assume what happened to Jimmy Hoffa and post that? Any assumptions on the Kennedy assassination? I mean since you are a prolific assumer and all.
