If water gets in the HVAC filter area, is the there a drain? What's the condensation drain for?

All I can tell you if you go through the wrong car wash, it will produce too much water for the drains to handle.

Not sure...if it went through the lemon law process the dealer would be required to designate it a lemon to all potential buyers.

Glad you got it worked out. Just curious what truck do plan on buying to replace the Tacoma? And will you run it through the car wash
    Good luck

The short answer is,I don't know what to buy next. Being my first Toyota, I love everything else about the Tacoma. I am truly bummed. Not many options as I prefer to stay in a mid size. Also my first 4X4. At the risk of being skewered....what would be a runner up to the Tacoma?
As far as running it through the wash.....I'm leaning towards hell no as we speak . Maybe the old saying"ignorance is bliss" has some merit in this case.

I personally am mixed on literally everything I read through this post. Personally if it were mine I’d be concerned. After knowing the problem exists with only a certain automatic car wash, I’d probably quit using that car wash because I’ve always liked my Tacoma.

It’s a bad situation you’re in. We expect perfection with our purchases in today’s world. From grocery shopping and not buying a box of cereal that is sealed yet the box is damaged to our cars/trucks and to our homes, we expect perfection upon purchase. Personally I say to each his own on this situation here as it’s questionable. Will this only happen during a specific car wash or will it even happen during an extreme weather event? If Toyota could guarantee this problem would only happen in high pressure car wash, I’d keep my truck and give up the car wash in question. If not I’d want something different due to weather damage possibilities.

Warranty and lemon law only require them to return it to it's designed state. If they tell you it's part of the design, that's their way of denying liability and you get stuck with a piece of shit. Going through the same thing with vibrations, they say it's a design characteristic so no effort goes into diagnosing it and lemon law wont help you.

I take my Tacoma thru an automatic car wash almost every other day.

2 days ago I noticed water droplets on my passenger side floor mat.

I checked the in-cabin air filter and bone dry... fuck me

Was it humid with AC on? That's what mine turned out to be, ductwork must build condensation and drip a little.
