Sorry for your loss. I just had to put down my Chesapeake Bay Retriever two days ago. It’s amazing how time waits for no one. They’re here and gone in a moment, but time keeps moving and so must we.

One of my most painful childhood memories as a kid was losing our family cat, Tonna (short for Owatonna, MN where she was from). I was about 8 or 9 when she died.

She was a mean Calico cat that hated kids (probably because we harassed her all the time) and only ever gave attention to my dad, but something about her dying really shook me as a kid.

After that the only other pet we had to put down was our Golden Retriever 'Andy', I was about 22 at the time and that hit me pretty hard as well. Rest of the family couldn't bear it so I stayed with her in the room while the vet gave the injection, as much as I didn't want to see it I really didn't want her to go alone.

Those two experiences make me absolutely dread the day I have to face the same thing with my cat Harley. He's about 8 years old now and still in good health but man...that's going to rip me apart

Who the hell started cutting onions in here..?

Very sorry to hear that. I'm sure you did right by him, and he knew what a happy home was.

Dammit you folks. I've lost too many cats, and dogs thru the years. It does NOT get any easier.
I have no explanation why, but i always find myself listening to this song when I have to put one down.

It is a horrible thing to do. Each one takes it's toll on me as well. But when l eventually do get another cat. l love that one too. They are all different in their own way. I always make sure that they know that l love them, and l give them the best and happiest life that l can. Seeing how happy and content they are makes me feel very happy as well. :)

Sssshhhh! I'm trying to pretend I'm in charge here!

Hobbes is wondering why it's taking me so long to get the package of treats open. After all, I've been home from work for at least 30 seconds already.

My cat got me a trip to the emergency center today.
She was sitting at her ground level window in the basement and I went to fix the curtain and bam she nicked a vein.

My little guy has been home alone for almost 10 days, with regular checkups by my mother-in-law. He doesnt seem too concerned though. I can talk to him through the cameras I put in to keep an eye on things. I think it comforts him. Miss the little bastard. :)

His name is Mal, and he knows he's better than you.

He's also the sweetest, most sane cat I've ever met.
