    I'll be making a case with hptuner about it. If credits registered to the VIN then once you write the VIN ( through techstream) then it should work

    For the immobilizer you short 2 pins on the obd port for 30mins with key on, that registers the immobilizer with the ecm

    ....moving the subject away from brick'ing :D

    Is there anyone working on a 91/93 octane tune? Don't recall seeing it, but I could have missed a page,,, or 12.

    Were you able to get tuned up since you got the MPVI2? Just curious.

    Not sure. The timing strategy of our 2nd gens is pretty neat in the fact that its pretty darned good at self advancing. There are likely gains to be had but possibly not much!

    Edit - Speaking of timing, for us auto guys... what do the tuning gurus think of reducing the spark retards for up and downshifts? Stock its pulls like 25* of timing, considering reducing everything by 25ish%?

    Your HPT license is to the VIN and Calibration ID.

    If you brick your ECU, source a replacement, Use a Mongoose/Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 Cable to reset your VIN via tools available with a TIS subscription and you'll be able to tune from there without having to spend an additional 4 credits.

    I've worked up 86/87 and 91/93 tunes out there. I'm sure others have worked stuff up too.

    I have what I need to get started, but I haven’t done it yet. Life keeps getting in the way. :annoyed:

    I do need to check in with JustDSM on a 91 tune though, just for fun. But I do want to go in some order though, JustDSM 87 tune first, then add nd4spdbh trans mods, then a 91 tune. I’ll get to it though.

    Must be nice... get 93 octane for probably a dollar cheaper than i can get lovely e10 87 here in cali.... that awesome gas makes gains via spark kinda hard....

    :censored::censored:

    Anyways, anyone have thoughts on reducing spark retard on shifts for the autos? Always felt like it dropped way to much power between shifts on these trucks.

    Very true, but you don’t have to travel all that far before it turns to 91, and I hate planning and retuning that far ahead.

    For NA Just tune for the octane you use the most. If that's 91/93 awesome, and then don't worry if you get somewhere n have to run less... The way these trucks work as far as knock detection is pretty damned good so it will pull timing where needed.

    It is interesting in looking at stock calibrations. 12+ trucks work off of a KCL initial value of 14* and work their way up, 11- trucks work off a KCL init value of 21* and work their way down. Also their knock detection retard amounts are more linear on the 12+ trucks. This was likely due complaints of knock on the early trucks.

    Is there enough range in the adjustment to run 87 if there is a 91 tune in? My assumption was no, but your description sounds like I may be wrong? ...again... :D

    From what i can tell yes. There is a low octane map, high octane map base and base limit maps for timing. Honestly not sure how they interact. But with the range a KCL value can be i dont see why you couldnt optimize timing maps for 91 / 93 and run 87... You will undoubtedly have a good chunk less in performance vs an optimal tune on 87. But the knock sensors and logic is there to keep the motor happy n safe.
