Just got back from a regional tire place.
I went in to see if they price match. I found Falken Wildpeak AT/3's for $142, for 265/70/17's

I am currently running stock rims, with 1.25" spacers for some poke.
The issue is: they said I would have to move up to a 9 inch rim to fit these tires, and keep the same stance as I have now.
Don't I just want the same 7.5 inch rim, but with a negative offset?

    Something doesn't seem right.
    thanks in advance

Theres A yes/no here. I don't think you'll find a aftermarket wheel as narrow as stock so you'd be looking at 8.5-9" wide aftermarket wheels so I don't think you'll find a 7.5" with negative offset.
But yes, a zero to slightly negative offset on the new 8.5 to 9" wide wheel will likely get a similar stance/stick out to what you have now.

Are you trying to purchase aftermarket wheels that have a similar stance to what you're running? Or is the plan to run the same wheels with spacers and just upgrade to larger tires?

You can run that tire on your stock rim/wheel just fine... no need to change them unless you are looking to do so.

Top picture is stock 16x7 wheel and the bottom wheel is 16x8 with 0 offset and 4.5 backspace.

    thanks for the info guys.
I was looking for new rims with negative offset, and couldn't understand why they were pushing a wider rim, when I wasn't changing from 265...
maybe I was using the wrong terminology. offset vs. backspace.?

I was thinking that with the savings from price matching the tires, I could get some rims.

Back space and offset are related but not nearly the same. The same backspacing could mean a positive or negative offset just depending on the overall wheel width. Offset is related to wheel center line(wheel width dependent), whereas back space is always how far in the mounting surface is set back from the inside lip of the wheel(so not width dependent).

    Thank you for the clarification.

Nearly all aftermarket wheels are going to be wider when compared to O.E. and this is even more so the case with wheels with lower offset. This isn't a bad thing by any means.

Just as an example, a 17x8.5 wheel with 0 offset is going to sit 1/2-inch further out when compared to where your O.E. wheels with wheel spacers sit now.
