so i just got this new job

requires me to drive 4 hours there and back 5 days out of the week


im looking for the best tires for that since ima get more income coming in id like to buy some ATs for side fun

what tires u recommend as far as driving alot

 

I put 82k on some michelen(sp?) ltx m/s.

Best set of tires I have ever owned,they were on my suburban, thought they were gonna out last the truck........

MT/R's!!!! They are not considered a "True, Mud-terrain" More of an Extreme All-Terrain. So far I like my set on my truck great traction, even in Rain.

Though I highly recommend the Cooper AT/R, or the Toyo A/T, prefer the Cooper AT/R more, due to the slightly more aggressive TSL design. I rate both tires 8-10, 7.5-10, and the MT/R 9-10.

I have had all 3 tires listed, and I got the most miles out of the Cooper's 95k, then Belts were showing. They wore like Iron. Great tread life, and quiet to boot.

 

+1 drop coin on some Michelins-I have over 50,000 miles on my Michelin-X's still got a good 10-15,000 left on them. VERY long lasting tire for sure and Costco runs sales on them!

 

had these on my tahoe (i think they were ltx anyways)....great set of tires in the snow as well as dry. very quiet and looked pretty good too.

 

ok cool so im not too worried about the all terrain tires im just worried about the tires ima need for traveling u know stuff that will last me and stuff that will be cheap

y would u wanna spend 8 hrs a day on the road? i would be getting info on local hotels so i dont have to spend that much time in the road.

 

michelin ltx m/s, nitto tg, toyo open country at or dueler revos.

 

its 4 hours there and back... and its every other day we switch off me and another employee...we get hotels if for example we work thursday 5 am - 2 pm then friday midnight - 8 am...u know

 

are you driving the truck to and from if so then i would go with the michelins one of the quietest but also have the lowest rolling resistance which will help fuel economy compared to other A/T tires

 

maybe i explained wrong i want two different set of tires...i want to get strictly road tires for work and on the side i wanna get some AT for off roading...swap em out...i want opinions on the road tires for work and some tires thatll be best for the distance im driving every other day

 

For a long commute like that I'd buy a used small car like a civic, yaris, etc.. 50% better mileage. Do the math based on mileage alone, it is worth the purchase.

oh well then go with an sr5 stock type tire 245 wide with a H/T tread pattern and a good heavy mud terrain for your offroad fun like a bfg mud terrain or swampers if you have the cash.

nah swopping tires would be only for going off road...i dont wanna buy a new car cuz i do construction concrete mason so uh civic wont help

 

let me know if you want to take me up on the stock tires...im looking to get something a little more aggressive. less than 1000 miles on them.

 

I got michelin LTX A/T last set lasted 103,000 miles. I drove from Ga to Oregon to Cali and back. Can't tell how many times to florida. They have seen every coast of the USA and lasted great and rode smooth. I got 50,000 on the second set and they look brand new. I drive 72 miles round trip to work every 3rd day. I off-road when I want to, no need to change tires. 1st set lasted me 5 yrs. This set has been on for 3 yrs. There is no question what I will be buying next time. I put a set of Toyo Open Country H/T on the 4runner for hwy only (wife won't take her baby in the dirt). We'll see how they hold up but they said 60,000 miles. I know for a fact I can get at least 100,000 miles out of the michelins. Toyo's were $450 cheaper than the michelins in a 17" rim. (265/70/17). Michelin has the LTX A/T 2 now so I can't speak for it specifically but the LTX is an awesome tire.
