Well I decided to jump in head first and ordered a 2020 Tacoma yesterday. Never owned any vehicle that was not a GM or a Ford, but decided to go for it and our dealer ordered a unique truck as Toyota does not offer the configuration I wanted.
I decided on a double cab long bed sport 4 x 4 in quicksand with the premium and technology packages, which is not available in quicksand. Hopefully they are not pulling my leg saying Toyota will be able to build this truck.
I will be using the truck for a daily driver and my work truck so I am installing a ARE DCU shell with cantilever rack and hopefully a sliding cargo tray from Highway Products, but open to suggestions!
Let me know some suggestions on rear leaf springs as I’m guessing that it may need to be upgraded for the extra weight.
    Thank you

My dealer said he put in order but they have not started yet so no reason yet .No pricing or allocation at all on tacoma yet. He said delivery will be about 12 weeks is his guess but no allocations yet on 20 models. Did dealer have pricing or anything yet or delivery date. I've asked about 4 dealers all said same thing and they are not out yet to order

Pretty sure Toyota will not build your truck to your specs. They can only find you something "really close" and get it on allocation or a trade with another dealer.

I'd nail down the dealer on specifics, so you are not disappointed.

    Congrats and welcome. Excellent choice.

I 'ordered' my 2020 Off Road DCSB in Quicksand on April 30th. I signed the bill of sale and put my money down. The condition was however that they did not know definite pricing and exact specs yet so we used the 2019 to put everything in writing. My price will be increased by the MRSP increase Toyota decides for the 2020.
That the 2020 models will not be available in Quicksand is just a rumour that the forum started. It is still unknown because the 2020 are not available yet.
I am afraid Toyota does not built one off special spec trucks. You can build one on their website and that is what can be ordered. There are even differences between the US and Canadian spec trucks, but I (a Canadian) am unable to order what you can and visa versa.

Hopefully you drove some different 2019 models, and confirmed you like the way it drives.
Around here, there's lots of gnashing of teeth on transmission programming, diff howl, etc. Make sure these are all things you can live with, so you're happy with your truck. Nearly all these could have been avoided by proper test drives and understanding the product.
I love my 2019, but I also understood what I was buying, before I bought it.

I'd also confirm ordering is even open, because others are not able to order. If the dealer cannot give you a build sheet, a price, and a confirmation, you/they don't have anything on order.

Had a cousin who worked for a Toyota dealer. Told me that the dealer could do a thing called a courtesy order but that required for the vehicle to be payed for in one shot at time of ordering. Not sure if true or not.
