    I have 2009 Tacoma base 4x4 with a 2.7. I get a Cyl 1 misfire occasionally when first starting up and/or when I am going up a steep hill. If I restart the engine it usually goes away. My local garage has swapped both the coil and injectors from other cylinders to see if the problem follows. It did not. Compression checks were done on all cylinders and all were within 5lbs of each other at 150. The spark plugs were changed on all cylinders. I took it to another garage with a little more expertise, They flushed the fuel system which was supposed to clean the injectors. Has anyone seen this problem? Open to any/all suggestions.

    Any chance of a critter getting inside the engine bay and feasting on some wire insulation?

    Since the problem did NOT follow the swapped parts;

    1. Check fuel pressure
    2. Check electrical @ coil #1 - back to ECM. (I’m betting this is the issue)
    3. Check Valvetrain system @ valves and camshaft (lest likely of the problems)
    4. Beyond that......I have no idea

    I’m going to go with an electrical problem.
    Hopefully you get it figured out soon.

    Fuel pressure was on my mind to check next and I check the voltages present at both coil and injector as well as trace wires back to their origin. Thanks for the suggestion.

    BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
    Don’t know but subbed to find out. Good luck! Edit: what weight motor oil are you running?

    Possibly a head gasket if everything else checked out ok.
