LED Light Questions

I have a 2019 TRD OR DCSB MT6. I want to convert backup lights, dome, and map lights to LED. Prolly not vanity mirror lights.

I see kits for $13 on Amazon, then I read that people have problems with the lights.

So I was thinking about using a brand name company like Sylvania, but now I'm up to $70 to replace these lights.

Does it make any difference as to which manufacturer of LED's is used? I'll pay the extra for name brand if I'm assured of no gremlins after installation.

Any other guidance that you have about this project, please share!

Sometimes you get for what you pay for. I converted (including vanity lights) three years ago. To date, not one issue. I’m thinking I paid close to one hundred dollars.

 

Diode Dynamics and Xenon Depot are both reputable places. You will see a lot of people go with Meso Customs Ultimate Map lights and Ultimate Dome, which I did. When you dig down on how much those cost versus just the bulbs from reputable places they kind of wash out. Just depends on what you want the output to be.

 

Lost track of how many cheep LEDs that Ive replaced on customers vehicles. At least use sylvania if your going to LED, and please dont change out turn bulbs for LEDs, yet to see one work right.

I went with superbrightleds for all my inside lights 2years no issues as of yet with them. Outside I did all LEDs in the tailights, I used diode dynamics for the turns and sylvias that I bought at auto zone when my stock one burned out for the brake light. Up front I did HIDs for the low beams and JSTAR led turns. No issue with any of them I put in for 1-2yrs+

 

Right. This was an interesting year for it too.

 

Most that go bad dont have a brand stamp, haven't noticed many that are sylvania needing to be replace though, no LED for me personally but i do use sylvanias

 

Got mine as a kit from eBay and have had zero issues. Really like the white light from a LED. My suggestion is that if you do replace the map lights keep at least one red for night vision. If the wife and I are on a trip and need light at night while driving it doesn’t wreck your night vision.your results may vary.

 

I've also heard great things about VLEDs, but those are on the extreme upper threshold for pricing. 800LM output with internal resistors so no hyper-flashing, but they're (near as makes no difference) $150 a pair.

 

Why not change turn bulbs? I have v6tritons up front no problems no resistors, total tail s2 no resistors and the ussr? Side mirror signals (built in resistors)

Vleds are quality. I’ll be replacing the v6 turns up front for the extremes and all the taillight bulbs (6) will get the extremes too… then I’m done
