    So for instance.. 304A5000 that is updated to 304A5100 cannot be flashed to TRD spec?

    CEL will only be on if there is no vin written, like you would get with a new ecu.

    Well this just freaks me out. Seems like the best option is to have a backup ECU, which ups the cost of doing this (since my truck is my DD). Unless HP Tuners comes out with a more fail safe method, I've gone to being reluctant to play with this.

    When you recover the ecu is it back to the OE N/A cal or can you recover back to the TRD tune cal for the supercharged guys?

    I’ve already got a “just in case” ECU, but with you guys bricking ECUs y’all have me paranoid so I just went on eBay and bought another one.

    I don’t no the exact cal numbers but yes that’s exactly right. If it had the calibrating for the pinging or what ever it was. You can’t flash it with supercharger tune.

    Best price I found was on Amazon a while back, tuner plus 2 credits was $375, then I added 2 more credits for $100. Was cheaper than any of the 4 credit deals I saw.

    I'm on my 2nd ecm, Toyota told me they weren't able to flash my original one to supercharger spec so I had to get a new one. My plan is to try that ecm again and see if I can hp flash it. If i can, I imagine it was just the dealer that didn't know what they were doing and I'll limp the truck over to a Toyota to have them try again. I'll send my bricked ecm to Matt with OVTUNE to have as a spare if everything goes smooth.

    Starting on page 54 is the list of calibrations by year and model. Left column is the original non-supercharged ID and the right column is the supercharged ID.

    I ran into this when I installed my S/C - ended up buying a "virgin" ECU, of the elusive 6MT variety. :spending:
    This is great news! I wish this option had been available a couple of years ago! Now, I'm pissed I sold my original TSB-flashed specimen... :frusty:

    Ditto! I updated my garage laptop to the latest Beta version, in preparation for some datalogging. Thinking about rolling back while I wait for the dust to settle here...

    Your services are VERY welcomed! My original ECU is on its way to you to get unfucked .... and another ecu was ordered from ebay and should get to me by the end of the week *fingers crossed*.

    Once i get my original one back in unmolested original CAL form, ill plug her in, get the imobilizer synced with it and then keep it as it stands in a perfect working stock setup ready to plug in and go. Then the ebay ecu will become my fuck around hptuner ecu.

    Like stated, if id of known that the @HPTuners flash process was so insanely sketchy id of never touched my original ecu in the first place.


    For those who havnt gotten a spare ecu, you can remove the passenger kick panel, stick your phone up between the ecu and side of the truck with flash on and take a pic to get the part number of your ecu without having to remove it.

    That will save people so much time and hassle not having to do multiple steps of finding an ecu then trying to get the TRD tune back as a baseline.
