It's a backup while I motor swap my 4Runner. Then maybe I'll give it to my son with a fresh rebuild or something.

    god I hate xfinity

me: "I am seeing speeds 1/4 of what I should be. I have rebooted my modem and PC and am connected directly to the modem with an ethernet cable"
support: "Please check your speed again using this new _beta_ speed test page we are launching"
me: "It's showing an even slower speed of X"
support: "let me see if there are any automated steps I can take"

You'll probably have to threaten to blow up their HQ to get a real person on the line.

I hate that automated customer service BS

No this is the rep reading off of their script. You have to go through the automated resolution bot to get to some poor call center tech reading off the script

Welp, after wasting an hour on the line I checked all of my connections and removed 2 MoCA filters that were placed a few feet apart (don't need them anyways since I don't have cable/DVR and squeezed a few extra mbps out. Still not happy but 40mpbs is enough for WFH, just won't be streaming anything at the same time esp if my roommate comes home.

Ugh I hated having 3 roommates ~7 yrs ago for a number of reasons but slow internet was a big one. I was too poor at the time to legitimately stream anything so I had to pirate most of my shows...you know how hard it is to enjoy GoT when you're streaming it through freetvshows.com or whatever it was and you have 1 other roommate trying to do the same thing with other shows and another that's glued to his xbox 24/7 playing call of duty online

    Hard times

LOL yeah I felt your pain hahahaha. I had 3 roommates who were always streaming while they played League or CS etc and our internet was always fawked.

Once upon a time I lived in a fraternity house with 34~ people and the fastest internet available was like 100Mbps from Comcast. No streaming or online gaming for anyone! I guess it pulled people together because people would organize times to stream shows as a group instead of sitting alone in their room by themselves and streaming the same show

I remember those days; one of our room mates was always streaming music and playing WoW while the other was, well...

That's probably true lol, we 3 pretty much kept to ourselves and I've always been "that guy" that gets pissed when people leave shit around the house or dishes in the sink, etc. and my roommates (well..one of them mostly) was a f'king slob. I was so happy when I was able to get my own place finally but I went from a 2 story house with roommates to a tiny 275 sq ft. "cabin" backhouse lol. CA rental prices are nuts though. The place my wife and I are at now is decent and has fiber optic internet which is cool, but we've even had some issues with that over the last 2 years. Mostly think we just need to get a better modem that can handle it
