    Hey guys,

I curently have 265/65R17s (30.5" diameter) on my 2012 Prerunner Texas Ed. The Tex Ed rims have a little more offset than stock wheels. I'm thinking about going to 275/70R17s. These are about 32.15 inches.

What's the largest diameter tire anyone has seen on a 2nd gen Taco Prerunner WITHOUT a lift and didn't rub, with or without mudflaps?

275 70 17. Might have to take the front little flaps off on the front wheels

6inch lift sitting on bilstein coilovers. Lexus is300 studs in front to keep stock wheels, general grabber red letters, nfab front bumper.
Pick what tires you want, then bust out the sawzall, cut off wheel, cutting torch, whatever tool of destruction you choose and get to work!

Troll answer is... you can make anything fit with enough trimming. :sawzall::welder:

Real answer is 285 / 70 / 17 probably. But this depends on the wheels you have. If you have a large offset then more that likely you will rub and need to trim.

Ok so lets talk about lifts and tires.... very simple....
    • If you want more ground clearance
      • Buy bigger tires
    • If you want bigger tires
      • Lift your truck
    • If you want a lift
      • buy once, cry once

Idk, I think the more popular route is to buy spacers, regret wasting your money, make a new thread asking for a cheap lift, and end up buying 5100’s.

You're right there are a lot of responses on this topic but most of them have lift kits. Most others say the largest is 265/65R17 which is what I have now, and is factory, and I'm sure I can get larger on there. I'm just asking if anyone has tried what I'm thinking without a lift and had success. I'm okay with removing the mudflaps. I just want a little more size in the wheelwells.

You could do the CMC without a lift to gain more space.

I copied this from an older post that another member had posted. Hopefully it helps.

    **********************************************

These are the largest tire sizes that will fit a Tacoma with a stock suspension:

    For 2016+ Tacomas: 265/70/17, 265/75/16 or 265/65/18

For 2005+ Tacomas: 265/70/17, 265/75/16 or 265/65/18, depending on what size wheels you have

For 2004 and below Tacomas: 265/75/16

Lifted 5 lug trucks can run up to a 31" tire, depending on the lift used.

Compare different sizes with our tire size

I'm sorry I made your day that more difficult. I felt it was a simple question but, apparently, I was wrong. I appologize if I've offended anyone with my ignorant post.

For those that replyed with helpful or constructive responses, thank you.

Don’t take it to hard. This question gets asked at least once per day. And many members feel like it’s a lazy way to do thing instead of searching for it. For example if you went to the wheels and tires sub form it’s there as a sticky two thumb scrolls down. But that’s the reason people are giving you a hard time. Enjoy TW and welcome, this place has almost every answer you’re looking for and if it’s not answered it will be rather quickly.

You need to lift your truck, then get bigger tires. Good luck.
