Not sure anything has changed, mine has a double sided zipper. There's a zipper pull thing on the inside.

I see. Do you find that you get enough air while sleeping back there?

Truthfully I've never slept in it. I feel it would be too closed in for me. I have something in my head that I think would make it more tolerable to sleep in the softopper. Just gotta find time to make it

Plenty of air. No need for the mesh back. It's just like sleeping in a small tent with the rain fly on.

I've been thinking up a mod however, to install mesh screen on the inside so I can roll up the sides while camping and still have a layer of screen to keep the bugs out. It should be pretty simple using some screen material and Velcro.

plenty of air. i dont want the mesh. it won't keep the dust out if you plan on camping off dirt trails. last thing you want is dirt back there. my son and i have both slept in the back with plenty of air. bugs did not get in, although i've seen some people drape a mosquito net over the top and use small magnets to attach to the sides of the truck. i keep a mosquito net in my camping box incase the bugs get bad. this will also allow a lot of air flow if you get hot and want to open the rear softopper window.

for heavy storms: i also have a big tarp in my camping box. i slept through pretty good downpours with no water leakage. if i'm expecting a massive storm i'll drape a big tarp over the softopper and stake it down. just be prepared. but for the most part, you don't need any extra protection from the elements.

Has anyone run these toppers who also transports a dirt bike? I'm really interested in getting something like this top, but do a fair bit of riding and don't want to be installing and uninstalling the topper all the time.

do you have a long bed? should be enough room if you fold the softopper forward. Wouldn't have to remove it. I would for sure by the protective cover that softopper sells or maybe put some kind of barrier between the bike tire and the folded up softopper canvas.

It's a DCSB and I'm loading a DRZ400. The protective cover sounds like a good route for sure.

I do almost every weekend and I have a DCSB as well. The bike does fit with the softopper folded down and doesn’t touch softopper; but I also have my hi-lift jack against the front of the bed so it pushes the bike back a couple inches. I would recommend getting the protective as well.

Did you do any tailgate reinforcement to prevent warping or anything? I'm seeing 3/16" aluminum replacement pieces for the plastic covering the inside of the tailgate has from the factory, and would rather pay $180 to protect it than try to find another tailgate entirely if something were to happen. Other than that it sounds like I'm officially in the market for a softopper!

Mobtown off-road makes a steel replacement that will replace that piece. A few companies make things like that.

No, I haven’t yet. It’s on the list of mods to do but probably 95% of time it’s just my dirt bike in the bed so I angle it in so the rear tire isn’t resting on the tailgate. Hell yeah! They are awesome, I love mine!

As for the bar, mine's a 2019 and they sent me the straight bar. Not sure how the curved bar would work? But the straight bar works well.

And as for camping in the softopper, it's great. Plenty of air (though I do use the mesh window when the weather is nice), and I've noticed much less condensation than when I camped in my old hard top shell. I also like how inside you can easily hang a lantern from the cross bars. Camp setup is nice.

I bought a $10 mosquito net from Academy and hang it under the softopper roof. Works really good for 1-2 people.

You won't be able to haul a bike. It's not tall enough. Going to have to fold it down.

Sold my red standard cab with the black Softopper and got a black DCSB TX Baja that I want to put a 'Topper on... but I can't decide on color.

Black on black? Maybe too much black?

Gray on black? Kind of a weird color, don't see a lot of gray ones. Might match the wheels?

Tan on black? Probably would look pretty BA but I really want to see it first especially with the wheels...

    Anyone got an opinion?

Black is definitely the safest choice here and I think would look the best. Tan would also look cool. I wouldn’t get grey.

Toyed with the idea of tan or gray on my black 3rd Gen. After seeing the black on black I’m glad I went with it. Saw one tan/Black combination wasn’t thrilled
