Don’t know much about that incident. SAR was on it and the sheriff from that jurisdiction had to come over engineer pass to assess from the top.... when he ran into our shit-show.

I’d contact your local Sheriff and/SAR to see if they need assistance.

More so than what happened two years ago? I went looking just for some pics of what was there and first thing I ran across was an article from Jan 2017 talking about how the cabin had been destroyed by an avalanche.

Medano update being no change, still closed. Was at the Park on Monday the 5th and they had a couple of pictures posted on a bulletin board:

    20190805_133205.jpg

    20190805_133213.jpg

Ranger I talked to said they had posted photos on their Facebook page, but I don't book Face and could only find this one from an end of July post that she had pulled out of a binder to show me (looks like the opposite view of the first pic up there):

    https://scontent.fapa1-2.fna.fbcdn....=6a0fc5d8bf9b27cd068aa39e10c95044&oe=5DC7B79A

There were a couple of other pics in the binder too, from down in the 'sand hills' part of the road. One showed some of that erosion matting they have down in places on an uphill section and it had been completely exposed, looked like two car lengths worth at least or pretty much the whole hill all the way across.

She said they hadn't even started looking at repairs yet as they were still waiting for things to dry out. On the (main) road in I saw evidence of several mud/rock flows that had covered the road and carved out some significant channels compared to what I remember being there. You can apparently come in from the east side all the way over the pass and down to the park boundary, but the portion between the boundary and the fourth crossing are closed.

    Hello all,

I know Coney Flats is open but was curious if anyone knew the current water levels of the crossings.

based on water levels around the mountains... my guess is the major water crossing/pond crossing would be at/over hood depth at the deepest... stay left for shallow, right for deep. MSV crossings would be bumper at the deepest...

seems like someone by now on here would have been up there this year already...

Gotta love the government and public relations info release. Apparently on the 15th (last Thursday), four days after I posted the update on Medano where I was told (admittedly on the 5th, a week earlier) no idea how long it would be and they hadn't even started repairs, they opened it all the way across. See current status page: https://www.nps.gov/grsa/planyourvisit/medano-pass-road.htm I saw @technolust's post in the BS thread and figured I'd check before I pointed this one out to him. Also, when did they add an air station? Last time I actually ran it they still told you if you aired down you had to go all the way out to at least the Oasis if not Fort Garland to air back up.

Did the Middle Saint Vrain trail this past weekend. Went a few miles in on the Saturday morning and camped and did the rest the Sunday morning. Sunday was bad, a lot of traffic on the trail and not enough pull offs. Trail itself was good, water levels were fine (3 in lift on 16s, didn't reach the door frame). We did not make it to Coney Flats as one of the trucks in our convoy was a F150 and the trail was not getting any wider for his liking.

I'm already at the "just shoot them" phase. I would love to see FS catch someone in act and make them walk out, since they seized their vehicle on the spot.

Planning on Kingston from St. Mary's side to Rollins Pass. Anything to be concerned about going solo? Small lift and 265's, no locker.

I haven't spent too much time playing around Yankee Hill area so figured I'd check in first.

Right above the triangle junction of Radical and Deer Creek, utv lost its wheel (due to a missing cotter on the axle nut :bananadead:) and were broke down for about an hour. During that time I watched them from afar so I didn’t get blocked in, and saw at least a dozen vehicles go around them, damage was pretty much instantaneous. Finally went up to see if they needed help, which they did, and I had the right socket to save their asses, and blocked the bypass until they could get the wheel back on.
