Radio and Amp not working

That's really stupid. Why would that even be a thing on these radios? All they should ever have is power, ground, and a built in fuse in the back of the HU as a just in case thing. To add a micro reset button I feel is incredibly redundant.

 

Maybe the unit went into anti-theft mode and the code needs to be reset?

 

Manual doesn’t say anything of it. These units don’t have a removable faceplate. Screen is built in and isn’t removable. Guess I’m resorting to taking to the installer

 

Turns out it was the 7.5amp fuse under the hood that was for the ODB port. Go figure.

 

It would’ve taken me forever to figure that out so don’t feel bad. I was “half” right, just for the wrong reason. I knew the RR module wasn’t communicating with the CAN-BUS, but I was assuming the issue was in the module, not the can-bus. I’m sticking this problem in the file in case it ever happens again

 

I can't take credit, my installer found it, but all he did was check the obvious and then start pulling fuses till he found one. So next time, I'm just going to check the obvious and then start pulling lol.

 

That is so weird considering you said there was power at the stereo harness

 

I think he just checked the constant 12v (yellow) and didn’t know to check accy power. Easily overlooked if you’re not super familiar with doing stereos. Props to OP for being willing to pull out the radio and use a meter instead of running straight to the installer. If I had a dollar for every fix I did where it was just a blown radio fuse, I would have a few hundred dollars lol
