Has anyone gotten their truck painted? Mine is Radiant Red. With a shell. I've never researched this....kinda wondering what the costs will be.

Top of the line PPG paint and clear with an experienced painter could be around $5000, someone who can do it cheaper could be around $3000 but the quality will not be the same. Also could cut cost if you decide to not get jambs & engine bay sprayed.

I pray that @kuffer14 will chime in on this. Painting is his specialty but he has been difficult to reach for awhile now.

OK, looked at his posts about the crazy exgirlfriend and the bedliner paint job. Now I get it.

Most of the time yes run from Maaco I’ve heard some maaco locations are better at spraying than others, the paint prep is where maaco fails. There are a lot of better options than maaco for sure, just know that you really have to pay to play if you want a quality paint job.

Why paint, that will fade, chip, and get scratched, when you can do this:

Might not be Radiant Red, but close.

I've seen runs in the paint, overspray, poor prep work. Remember, you get what you pay for. Quality work costs.

I've seen people pull off amazing DIY paint jobs on Youtube. They all used SprayMax 2K two part clear where there is a catalyst you have to mix in by pressing the button on the bottom on the spray can. They used cheap paint like Rustoleum for the base coat but it's the clear coat that has to be good to make the paint last.

I would say to look into Earl Scheib, I still have a paint job from him on my 240Z, but that was done in the early 80's.

Eh...I'm not that ballsy. I like my Radiant Red...it's got 227k on her she's my DD and Camping/off-roading truck. I'd rather spend 3k on a regular paint job and the rest on other upgrades. But I commend your commitment.
