Agree with this. But I doubt you would ever recoup you investment. Especially buying a new air filter every month.

I got 2-3 mpgs consistently when I put on a tune with HPTuners. The cat protection fuel dumping is pretty excessive on these trucks, I'm guessing most of my improvement came from lowering that. I was around 14mpg, now it's usually 16-17. Expensive route if you're going for just MPG improvements though.

    1. Keep the RPMs at 2k when accelerating during all traffic scenarios (which means driving it like its a Prius).
    2. When on the highway, stay in the right lane and keep the RPMs to 2k. Draft 30-40 feet behind tractor trailers of possible.
    3. Use glide and feather foot methods to accelerate slowly. This is sort of difficult to grasp until you drive a vehicle which has an ECO mode - and understand how it adjusting the pedal input to move the throttle open slower.
    4. Understand that all sudden pedal inputs in a drive cycle will immediately zero out the potential gains from conservative driving methods above - unless its repetitive highway driving on level ground with low amounts of traffic - just drive it how you want to drive it.

Not so regarding #4, mileage is the sum of all inputs, you don't lose what you gained before, you lose what you might have gained at that moment. Sometimes that's necessary, such as onramps or passing on a two-lane. Everytime I see a vehicle speeding up to a bumper or red light then braking is a waste of both fuel and brake pads for no gain. That's just one of the simple ways to alter driving habits that has no downside.

    This.

I get 20+ in town on my morning commute because I just let off the gas and slow roll my way to lights from a couple hundred yards back. You'd be amazed once you get good at it how well you can do. My record is 25.1.

I always love the folks that dramatically dive into an empty pocket in traffic, fly up to the back of that semi truck, and then all of us just pass you, trapped behind the truck. "...and what was it ya planned on doin next?"

Must be a Utah thing for @Gunshot-6A and I. Back when my double cab short bed v6 was stock on 265/70r16, my best tank was also 25mpg. Even now on 315s I get just about 17mpg per tank.

This was my last tank. 2012 4.0 auto. Lift wheels and tires. City, highway, and towing 1400 lbs. about 65 miles. I’ll take it.

Most vehicles have 2 pedals on the floor. Every time you put your foot on either of them it costs you money. The closer to the floor you push them the faster you're spending money. Learn to drive by using both of them as little as possible. Accelerate slowly, anticipate stops and coast as much as possible. Trying to time traffic lights so you don't come to a complete stop helps a bunch. Even if you're only going 5 mph when the light turns green you'll use a lot less gas getting up to speed. And your brakes will last longer too.

I tend to run my tires at the highest practical PSI which reduces rolling resistance. Mud tires, wide tires, and lower inflations will increase rolling resistance. That means less time coasting. I've driven trucks with some tires that required me to keep the foot on the gas going downhill to maintain speed. Tire weight alone isn't a factor. As long as you stay with an AT or street tire it can be pretty heavy and not change fuel mileage.

Staying on top of plugs and air filters help, but unless you really neglect things that makes very little difference. Most anything else won't help enough to pay for the changes.
