My welding table project is just about finished. I was able to get my tubing cut, notched, and welded up for the legs. I had a little extra time, and welded up my 90* jigs too. The only thing I have left is adding a metal shelf to the bottom of the frame. I'll try to get some finished pictures this even.

I have been happy with this setup, even if it's the smaller one.

I have cut 2x4" rectangular tube for a straight miter in one shot. More than large enough for my uses with DOM and square tube.

Falling is a little more serious than a burn.

Decided to take a stab at building my own poling platform. Using thin wall conduit for the frame materials. Initial testing points to it being a win.

Still need to do final clean up of the brackets. Round off any sharp edges, weld on some expanded steel to stand on and make it a bet less janky looking.

I still need to do something different with the hand rail. Thinking on that presently.

    Holds my 220 lbs just fine.AZYk4Le7pXnRGXYPwzXfG3oWgk-p7II1BVJCPWUw_1c0db2b08579cede651da4233ce58c4dc2e57191.jpg wSnjEfrXqjMkO3Ch_qwjPu8FBPVZzl0gfUUQU9va_24e317093eec3f82caf965a3930022fb63c92f1e.jpg p3CV_tOv35CIKmpGVoa0X6yud-e6Ra-QY42kR3_K_edd4c2c4153d796b1eea540c7d2a228a200d001b.jpg

Going back to school for Welding at Daytona State this fall. Graduated with Mechanical Engineering in 2013 but always wanted to learn to weld properly, so here we go!

I'd take a broken leg/arm over a serious burn any day. I find burn pain to be the hardest to manage. Now if you're falling to your death... well that's a different story :D

I just looked at the picture again. I wouldn't want to fall from that. Nope nope.

I had a pretty good discovery today.. realized I’ve been using 1/8” thick 14” cut off wheels designed for demo saws, in my chop saw, and that’s why it has sucked so badly. Picked up some 3/32 chop saw blades and I’m stoked. What a fucking difference. Don’t want a carbide chop saw or band saw anymore

    That's what happened to me,
I have the evolution rage 3, used the factory blade, cut some stuff, it was good. Clamping was difficult at first, I tried to use the crappy stuff that came with it, ended up using C / F Clamps on the fence to get a good hold.

    back to the blades,

Factory blade cut steel decent, but dulled quickly, less then 50 cuts on various things I had round the garage

next was a $30 cheapie from Amazon. I feel this one would have lasted more then 1 cut if I wasn't a goofball and properly secured the metal before trying. the metal slid sideways a bit and stripped about 1/2 the teeth and flung the metal I was cutting somewhere in the shop. I count myself blessed I still have my eyes and fingers after that one.

Finally I have the Diablo Steel Demon Cement II Carbide blade. Good blade for me, cut real nice if you went smooth, lasted the longest until.. you guessed it... got sloppy and did not secure the metal being cut properly. that one broke the fence. Slammed the steel between the two sides of the fence and snapped right in two ( taking out several teeth on the blade with it )

after that, I took a break from using it. Just this past week I started to make a replacement fence, this time angle iron, and I'll be damned sure to secure all my work tightly.
