This is a trail I've done a few times solo and would like to do a group run on before I leave SoCal. It's a fun trail and the area has many attractions (tunnels, mines, 100+ year old cabins, etc.)

    The details:

Who: 4x4 only. The majority of the trail is a soft sand wash filled with rocks. To get out of the sand wash requires going up a short, steep, slick hill with very little run at it. Stock 4x4's can make the trail, but will have to be skilled drivers to avoid body damage. Lift/tires makes the trail much easier. I have done the trail without sliders and at 3'' lift with no issues.

What: Everything from a rocky sand wash to high speed whoops and desert roads; plus stopping to explore Schmidt tunnel (handdug tunnel nearly a mile long) and other local attractions.

Where: Red Rock Canyon State Park area, just outside of Mojave (near Jawbone/Dove Springs)

When: Saturday, September 18th. Meeting in the town of Mojave at 0900. As interest grows we can adjust the start time and meeting location.

    So, who's with me?

I may be down but my 1st gen with 2.5" lift still sits a lil low and no sliders, yet.

You don't need sliders for the Mojave run unless you find some hardcore rocks. As long as you're stock height you'll be fine.

This is the last chance canyon run. A stock height truck is either going to need sliders or a very careful and skilled driver.

Seniortaco, you should be fine. What the 1st gen loses in height it gains in narrower track width and shorter wheel base.

Sounds cool... that is my birthday (may not want to wake up so early)... I wish I was a bit closer to Mojave! Any photos of the trail?

I don't know it would be close. It would come down to the skill of the driver and willingness to abuse equipment. I wouldn't advise it. You can roll with me if you want to.

I don't have any photos, but you'd love the trail based off what I've seen in your other threads.

    Here's a link to a simple map. http://www.deathvalley.com/exploring/rover/lastchance.pdf

You can also see pictures of the trail (and some of the difficult obstacles, which do have bypasses) if you google "last chance canyon"

I use GPS and know the trail well, so I don't have a topo map for it on hand.
