Thanks. I previously had the Rhino Rack that clamped onto the door jambs, but I wanted something adjustable. Drilling holes in the roof was daunting, but the butyl pads over each hole as well as marine grade silicone should prevent any leaks.

Just about to hit 120k miles so I did a tire rotation, oil change, and lubed my driveshaft.

First time I changed the oil myself I did a ton of research here on TacomaWorld to ensure I wouldn’t hit any snags that would stump me or to perform a “Halp!”

The bottle/cup hanging under the filter works as great as always to catch draining oil. Last time I changed the filter I was able to twist it off no problem, but I must have twisted on the new one too tight because I couldn’t get it off with just my hands. I remembered a trick I saw here on TacomaWorld and it worked like a treat!

The screwdriver trick works great!.....Until it doesn't, then you have a bigger problem on your hand, how to remove the oil filter mounting flange. If you are going to be doing your own oil changes moving forward, I would encourage you to buy the specific fitted oil filter wrench:

Congrats on the first oil change!

Sorry, should have been more specific. Second oil change, I reread my own post and I worded it funny. I’ve owned the truck since new in 2007 and decided I needed to start doing my own work just within the last year. I also got tired of shops dicking with my truck.

I thought about buying one of those but after doing the first oil change myself, reading all about the different options for removal, and pulling it off with just my hands, I decided I didn’t need one. And there’s an autozone behind my house so if needed I should be good lol.

    Thank you for the recommendation!

Just a bunch of old crap
Garmin Explore is the free account you set up with your Garmin products. I already had a Garmin account set up for my InReach, so when I signed the Overlander into it, all of my tracks and waypoints etc all imported instantly. It's where you can download all kinds of map layers, and also create maps on their site and it syncs to your devices. I build tracks and plans in Google Earth Pro, then export the KML file of that plan and then import it into my Google account so it loads up in my inReach and now this new device. The built-in altimeter, barometer, compass, and inclinometer are really useful. Another page is gauges so if you're recording a trip it shows your accurate GPS speed, length of trip, hi and low altitude, current altitude, headings and all sorts of useful info. When you get home, get on your wifi and sync it to your Google account and it will store all that data from your trip to do with as you wish. Really flexible and far more features than the Magellan TRX7. I wish I would have waited another few weeks for the Garmin to come out before buying. I'll be selling the Magellan with mount and everything soon. Great product, but the Garmin is better since I already have other Garmin products. Oh, you can sync your inReach to it and use the tablet to text with and other extra features, kind of like using the phone app and tethered to the inReach. Satellite comms and nav all working together.

    Bedliner :D

Kind of did the same idea as the eyelid things but didn’t want it to cover the headlight as much. Top of the headlight was also hazing pretty bad, but only the top for whatever reason lol.

Yep, I should have tried a little harder on the right headlight lines but the left came out pretty good. It’s held up for probably 6 or 7 years at this point

I like the way it came out! I always thought the same w/ the eyelids being just a lil too much especially on the 2.5gens

Thank goodness my truck is pre-wired on the radio side. I'm slowly gathering the parts on the steering wheel side and look what i found.
