Speaker dilemma

One my stock speakers is starting to pop so I'm looking to upgrade. I'm not interested in the super expensive components, I just want to keep it simple. I'll be keeping the stock 6-disc change just because I to keep the interior looking stock(i.e. I don't want my shit to get stolen!) I've been looking at the Pioneer TSA-6993R 6x9 5-ways for the front and Pioneer TSA1683R 6.5 4-ways for the rear. My only problem is the 6.5s are rated to handle 50 watts rms and my amp is 60 watts rms. Will this be a problem? Is 10 watts going to kill these speakers? Any and all info is greatly appreciated!!

Listening at a reasonable level those 10 watts will never come into play.

 

i got a set of mtx tx6001 thunder axe seperates. No complaints so far, and Ive had them for a few months now. The only thing I wish about mtx, is if they could make the crossovers a little smaller..lol

 

The extra power should be fine. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

The golden rule with speakers is that if you turn it up too loud you'll know because it will start to sound like shit. When that happens, turn it down.

 

Thanks guys! I'm kind of worried about blowing those speakers. I wan't to have plenty of power to the 6x9s but don't want to over-power the 6.5s with the 60x4 rms amp. If I buy a smaller 4 channel amp, say 35x4 rms, just to be safe with the the 6.5 , will that be enough to make the 6x9s sound good? Also, can I wire the 4 ohm 6x9s to 2 ohm and still run the 6.5s at 4 ohms?

You're not going to hurt anything, go for it.

 

Running the bigger will not hurt anything.

I like to run a bigger amp because it keeps the amp from clipping off the signal and causing distortion.

 

Bingo! The damage caused from NOT having enough CLEAN power will be more than having TOO MUCH clean power. I know it's hard to grasp but trust us; it's science!

Got the bit one installed and I'm in heaven! I haven't mounted the remote thing yet but I really don't use it for anything so I don't think I ever will. I'll try and get some pics up of the tuning interface and stuff.
