Hitched a ride on the after work hustle train.

Finished sanding the entire camper exterior. Definitely thin in some areas. Hopefully the second coat does the trick...not interested in doing a third!

Ran into a snag on this cut. Made it within a couple of inches of finishing the last cut I should need to make in fiberglass and my favorite blade broke. Tossed in a regular metal cutting blade and finished it off.

Cut a hole for the window in the door.

Then I re-primed the exterior of the door.

    More to come!

    Glassed then in place.

I’ll check on them tomorrow morning and sand them and the entire floor and prep for primer.

Sanded and patched up and re glassed the camper mounts. I got excited and didn’t quite do it right but we should be good now. I also sanded the entire interior; getting it ready for its second coat of paint and the first primer coat on the floor.

    0C99FCE9-1EAF-4A96-BA89-7A0852C74A93.jpg

Put the second, and hopefully last, coat on the exterior!

If there are any areas that need attention after this cures, then I’ll just do that panel. I don’t think I’ll need a third coat over the whole camper.

    3F0ED152-B43A-4993-A09D-4B1F14FF54EA.jpg
First coat of paint on the exterior of the door too.

I’m doing my best to think ahead and be both time and resource efficient.

    More tomorrow!

How come you didnt add a washer to that so the bolt wouldnt pull into the wood disck? No need?

I’ll use a large diameter, heavy washer with the bolt. No need to epoxy it in place. The bolt in the photo was only there to keep the disc aligned with the hole beneath. It was covered in mold release wax so it wouldn’t get epoxied in place.

Well, I can already tell I’ll be sprucing up a few spots on the paint. No biggie as it’s spots and not the whole camper. I have to break out the seafoam anyway to finish painting the door and the bottom of the camper. Also, it doesn’t affect my progress so that’s nice.

Sanded the floor down and got a coat of primer on it. Spent exactly no time fairing this out. I don’t care what it looks like, I just want it sealed up.

    5579D274-387B-4E79-93FB-454B5B071313.jpg
I also put two layers of glass around each hole in the floor. Figured it might be good to add a bit more strength here since the camper is going to sit on these four points. Don’t know if it’s needed...don’t know if it’s enough. We’ll find out!

I also got some primer under the edges of the bottom of the camper. I want to prime and paint the bottom to get it sealed up. It’ll get all scratched up when we mount the camper but the majority of the bottom will be protected.

Also sanded the exterior walls that need touch up.

Oh, and I realized that the tie down track is designed for a 90 degree countersunk screw. Easy to find metric...hard to find inch. So, I’m going to use 82 degree heads...I’m sure it’ll be fine. I’ll need to use Phillips heads as they have a smaller head diameter. I’ll try it out at the hardware store tomorrow. Want the heads to actually sit flush. The hex drive countersunk bolts sit a little proud. Probably not a deal breaker as I won’t be moving mounts around on the truck much. I could work around it...if the fittings for the track are even that tight of clearance.

    Overall, good progress.
