that would work. but I like the idea of having a spare tread.

I would say a quickchange with a 2.8 is a great starting point. I recommend cutting down the snout from the start though so you can go smaller later once you ensure that your tune is safe and everything is running smoothly. This will also allow you to get a feel for what is normal and establish baselines for how to expect your truck to behave in all different driving situations. I think there are several supporting mods you're going to want before to be on the safe side before going below a 2.8..

    AFR gauges
    Upgraded fuel pump
Bigger injectors/7th injector or FPR mod
    Stronger tensioner
    Smaller s/c belt
    Wrap idler
Engine protection (my personal opinion, but I think there should be some type of safe guard for the motor when increasing boost)

My opinion, take your time start with a 2.8, get the truck running good, then work your way down and have some fun once you've got your supporting mods/safeguards in place. I would hate to see you start out with a 2.5 and have issues that could've been avoided by starting out more conservatively. Just speaking from personal experience, I had issues in the beginning, and if I had been pushing the limits, things could have gone really bad for me since my truck was running lean.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
That is much more of a potential spot than under my rear seats. I want to protect the batteries as well. I may just weld up a box for the rear where the spare tire was

So, I’ve been trying to find someone (preferably local) that’s experienced/willing to set up these heads and a bottom end with little luck.
Does anyone have a good suggestion?

I’ve spoken to Tim at TCR in Tucson and got some good advice, but he doesn’t seem interested in the work.
Larry’s in Groton and H Squared have yet to respond.
Holding off a bit longer from trying LCE.

Starting to think that because it’s not a normal engine to do this sort of work for they know it’s going to be more time intensive than the ‘run of the mill’ builds they’re used to doing. So, if business is good with LS/JZ/EJ/2GR etc why bother? ...That mixed with the high percentage of people who talk, but never actually put down the cash.

Coming up with alternate COAs. Buying and getting trained up on my own engine machine shop not being one of them.

Yeah, I was trying to show off all the other supporting purchases I had made and demonstrate how committed our group is to this platform. eg Roosts Y-Pope, Kelford cams, fuel rail, etc.

Edit: I’ll add other potential customers as you suggested

that’s what I am thinking. all the mods will be great for a 2.8 but a must for below that. 2.5 I bet is great but moving towards it so I can get it up and running might be better. I have most of the supporting mods ready to go but not sure I can get to them all at once.

yah that was the plan but not sure Ill be able to get to the trans adjustments right away for one. Rather than be limited for a bit I can set up as a 2.8 with cut snout and go down to 2.5 when I can get the adjustments made. I am all for breaking a few things (ideally not) but thats now how learn more about your vehicle.
