Oh sorry, missed that. I will file that away for future reference!

I think the AD244 uses the same pulley, though of course it would be mounted a schoche farther from the other pulley CLs, due to the larger diameter of the alt case.

Again, when I do this I'll type up a Mini-HowTo and share here. But this isn't a priority at the present.

One thing I do recall from my research when doing the job on the S10, however- the CS130 and the AD244 use different connectors. The AD244 connector was about $40 at a parts store (which is just damn ridiculous). I think I pulled mine out of a 2001 Chevy fullsize pickup for $5.

11/1/22, This post will be updated with "fit issues" and the fix.

This upgrade is as old as the hills. For me it's the best bang for the buck and ease of install for those that need the amps. Higher ampacity power cables (welding cable), terminals, shrink wrap and a crimper can had for the cost of a "big three" cable set set. A ready made "Denso to Delco" adapter for the control wiring can be had for around $15.

I have done three of these now. Depending on the exact original application, the CS144 can come with different diameter and offset pulleys along with clocking of the end bell. Further I believe there is some variance in the OE mount brackets. Some have had slight misalignment, I did not.
I would look into a local source rather than online because all three I ordered were damaged in shipping but happily and quickly exchanged by Amazon. A pain in the rear nonetheless.
Another thing to consider is the "all new" units in the $130-$150 range are not made by Delco. Yes even the ones sold by Delco in Delco boxes. They are made for Delco and a bunch of other vendors for that matter. Next time I may consider a reman actual Delco from a local source. Delco made units will have "Delco Remy" name cast on the end bell. (see pic)

I reused the stock alt belt but had to cut around 3/4" off the coolant hose to the oil cooler on each job, two 99's and a 98. OE alt is carried as a bolt in trail spare.
The CS144 is a workhorse and a common upgrade in many venues. A "bolt in" kit can be had to kick it up to 200A. In stock form it's just loafing compared to rewound stockers.
Further, the output at crankshaft idle RPM is around 100A.

Wish I would have seen this years ago I’ve been running a 270 amp DC power alt with billet case. Its so hard to spin that if the belt isn’t brand new and kept tight it will spin and squeal, pretty damn annoying, and will burn belts right off if not adjusted or checked regularly for tightness. It works but its so tuff to spin that I cannot run a supercharged setup because it will shit belts like diarrhea! I want to listen to my Focal speakers and 2000watts but I like horsepower waay more. I need one in the 200 amp range that spins easier. Hit me up on a pm Bama, i’m becoming interested.

I have just recently been able to regain access to my TW account. For almost a year my password never worked, and reset requests were not responded to. This morning after a phone call from a customer I tried again, and while my original password didn't work, I was able to reset it this time!

As for what I have available, 200A and 250A units that are, mechanically, a direct bolt in. This means no custom brackets, no different belts, no piggyback harness. That being said, the factory electrical system is not capable of handling the 200A or 250A charge capabilities of the higher output alternators. The alternator charge cable is too small really, and it goes to the fuse box instead of directly to the battery, as it should have been from the get-go. So I also build cable kits to handle all of this, and improve on the factory wiring. DM me with your truck specs, and what you are looking at getting done!

Neat offer, and handy for folks that can't build their own stuff, but I will pass. I built electrical systems on Nuclear Aircraft Carriers and similar, pretty sure I can handle this. ;)

Are you finally back on here Bama? I’ve been curious about your alternator kit for a year now. If you can pm me I’d appreciate it, hoping to price out the big 3 and alternator.

    Wasn't aware of that thread.
Bama offered a HO Alternator that uses the oem casing so there are no fit issues, and the alternators he built put out more amps at idle. The putting out more at idle is what I'm looking for.

James, I appreciate the link on the cadi alternator write up. Do you have to run an upgraded wire from the alternator to the fuse box? I currently have 4 gauge wire running from the stock alternator to the battery with a 80 amp fuse in between. I still have the stock wiring in place from the alt. to the fuse box to the battery. I'm sorta piggybacking.
Also a 4 gauge wire from the alternator (where is bolts from the front) to the chasis as another ground.
    Appreciate your help.

I replaced the brushes in my stock alternator about 2 years ago. They were wore down pretty thin. I'm trying to find an alternator shop that will replace the bearings. I can change out the regulator myself.
Lot of ifs, ands & buts. If I rebuild it, will that make much a difference or go with a HO alternator?????
    James, again, Thank you man.

    hi..
can you give me more details on this?
here in australia a denso alt john deer 140amp is 700$usd + tax..
after market is like 400$ and tbh i dont trust aftermarket when you are far away in the outback and it fails is a nightmare.
temperature here are like arizona, and 400 miles to nearest one horse town means you can be 4-7 days waiting for a part hit premium price too.
