    Follow the maintenance schedule available on your Toyota owners account, not the dealer's "recommended" services. They all try and upsell on stuff you don't need.

    You can print a copy of it to hand them if they try and pull a fast one on you

    True, but you do have to factor in how hard you are using it to determine which path to follow in the Maint Guide. For me, I blend the two sets of intervals.

    OP, I wouldnt do any of those things before 60k miles. Better yet, keep reading TW and learn how to do all those things yourself and save hundreds of dollars.

    As noted above, follow the printed maintenance schedule. Thats the standard.

    For the EFI, are they talking about a EFI reset or EFI relay replacement? Isn't it super easy to reset the EFI? Just disconnect the battery and touch the cables together and wait 1-10 mins or so?

    What the hell is "Recommend EFI" and "Recommend Optimizer"?

    Also who flushes brake and power steering fluid at 30,000 miles? That's laughable. They're trying to fuck you raw

    The terminal touch does a pretty good job and solved odd issues on my wife's Subaru in the past, but I have been impressed with the DTC and LV Resets. They can be done in TechStream or OVT's FlashManager. For me, I got better tune loads, my computed MPGs went from 0.5 high to within 0.1, and I'm up 1mpg (calculated) since. That's a lot more convenient also.


    With regard to the OP, they might (?) be talking about running a HealthCheck on TS. Still, that is literally a one minute task and maybe 10min if it finds something to load.

    Depending on the type (if stated in the Maint Guide), there are PS fluids that need to be flushed. It caught me off guard on our 1996 Dodge and ended up getting very thick. Saabs and Volvos used Pentosin PS fluid. That stuff was expensive and needed flushed also. I have no idea yet what is in the Taco and if it is a real requirement.

    My truck is 12 years old. The only thing on that list that I've done is change the fluid in both axles and transfer case. And that was at 160,000 miles. Changing all the fluids, 6 plugs and a new serpentine belt only cost me about $400.

    Keep driving it. If you look closely at the owners manual it doesn't say "REPLACE" those items at 30K, it says inspect and replace if needed.

    I had my 30K Service done on 7/29 (on my 2019!!) and they charged me 79.95 (89.95 minus 10% Military/Veteran Discount).

    For the 30k? That is pretty good for a dealer and just an oil change, air filter swap, and tire rotation. About $30 to $35 in supplies.

    For me, the problem is scheduling and waiting. I'm happy in the garage sipping beer on my own terms. And the best part about the Taco (first truck) is that there's no need for ramps. What a joy that is.

    Understood - I travel a lot (as you can see by needing a 30K service on a vehicle I bought new in Jan) - fortunately I use a dealership in a small town and I can schedule on line, and be in and out within the hour.

    Holy shit lol, "front differential fluid service" for $230??? You literally just drain a couple quarts of gear oil out and pump a couple quarts back in. Takes maybe 30 minutes if you're doing it yourself for the first time, the dealer probably gets it done in 10 minutes using $20 worth of gear oil. Wow that's crazy.
