Please go easy on me. I've never dipped before. I want to black out the Tacoma badges on my new double cab. I'll be removing for good the V6 tailgate badge. For the Tacoma badges, is it best to leave them on for the dipping process? Just use some paper and mask around them? Am I correct in assuming that any spray that gets on the paint will peel off? The dip I got was the flat black aerosol version from Wally World.

    Thanks fellas

yup, tape off about an inch around the emblem and spray away. peel off what you don't need and use a toothpick for the center of the "O"s and "A"

I taped off a quarter inch gap around the logo, then I taped paper around the area to minimize overspray

Yes, leave the badges on. Watch some videos on youtube, it's super easy. The thicker you spray it on the easier it will peel off. I think I did 5 coats and could have even done a couple more.

Sweet. Going to tackle it this weekend and throw on some Ecoological bumper covers to get rid of the chrome. Haven't decided yet on whether to dip the grill bezel or just get the SR black one.

While you’re at it, hit that lower pinch weld too. What color is your truck?

It's cement. What is the lower pinch weld?

Below the door sill and rocker panel is a pinch weld about an inch tall. Here’s my 2014 underped and my 2017 derped. Zoom in to see. It’s the dimpled black piece on the 2017.
