So just got mine today. Reading through this thread and I think I like @JoeCOVA idea the best. Cutting out the main inlet tube on the fender. Dry fitting the snorkel and use axle grease on the studs to mark where the holes are supposed to go. Basically only use the template to drill the main inlet hole. Any other suggestions before I begin? I plan on using 3m to secure the tube instead of riveting to my A-pillar. Is there a reason we need to remove the fender flares like the instructions say to?

I got mine last week. Template honestly wasn’t that far off. Maybe a 1/4” on most holes.

I didn't remove my fender flares, I was able to pop out the fender liner while leaving them on. I do recommend getting some new fasteners just in case you break some.

The instructions call for an air hacksaw to cut the hole. I was thinking I would just use a hole saw. Did anyone else do this? What size hole saw did you use?

The hole isn't exactly a circle, a hole saw will get you started but you'll need a saw of sorts to finish it off.

Question for you guys. When I got my snorkel, it stated that these were for oem intakes, and would not work with TRD intakes.

So, IYO should I just swap my intake back to the oem and sell the TRD intake?

Or should I attempt to make this work with the TRD intake. My guess is that the connecting hose to the box is a different length, due to the change in box size.

    Thoughts?

Not sure if anyone asked this question yet, but has anyone tried driving their vehicle with snorkel through a car wash center? Will that cause any problems, or is that not recommended?

I did this until it died after 3 inches. Typical Harbor freight; then used a dremel to finish it..

Welp. I've been wanting a dremel. This sounds like as good of excuse as any to go get one.

mine worked fine. i think i had to remove the rubber grommet/resonator that came with the trd intake (its just a rubber piece that sits in the fender hole). been running dobinsons/trd intake combo for about 4 months now, no problems

I want one of these so bad. Can’t wait to pull the trigger...hopefully closer to the end of the year. Has the template been updated yet? Would definitely look good on the ol’ Yota  *daydreaming*

@BlakeM what brand/model is that “mushroom top”

acetone? do you still have paint there?

I would have recommended using rubbing alcohol.

That is not recommended. Damage is likely.
