My buddy just sent me this pic and a video of the truck ripping a tree down with the winch. Anyone recognize this truck??

Edit: not looking to tell on anyone, just thought it Was neat if one of you out there knew my buddy

 

Are we not allowed to rip dead trees down now?

 

No official rules I know of, but Leave No Trace recommends leaving snags as part of the ecosystem.

You put it up so here are my thoughts.....

ANYONE can pick up wood and fallen trees 100%, Just got off the phone with USFS. HOWEVER, I would caution your "buddy" to not do this unless he has a permit and the wood would be transported away from the site.

Anyone can simply get a permit if they are harvesting firewood...if it is used for camping....I suggest you call the USFS area you or "he" is working in.

IMO dead trees should be harvested but just ask the question if you are curious....
