I understand they are free but every time I ask a Toyota dealer to do something they have an excuse why they can't. I know another member mentioned the dealer refused to reflash his truck which to me is crazy but on par. Im definitely going to to ask them to do but I actually just said fawk it and downloaded Techstream and the CUV files for shits and gigs. I only ordered the tune last week so I still don't have programming cables or software registration. Just getting ready.

Yeah but there’s been super charger kits for the 2.7 forever.

Plus if you get the MT, it performs way better than you would expect.

This. At least the 2009 2.7 MT Access Cab I had could get out of it's own way. Pre-OVTune, my 2017 V6 AT often had trouble accomplishing that same task.

Does anyone have the link to the 2017 TSB that updates to 04B04? I would like to tell the stealership what the symptoms are that are needed to get the update. Been looking all over the internet and only get thousands of TSB's for this thing. Currently on 04B03. Thanks in advance. A/T. Currently on OVTune 1.05 91 base. Order #2112.

Nah I get that a lot lol. I'll take the 2.7 over the v6 any day personally. I like the 4spd auto also. Took a while to grow on me as a standard lover but it's a solid drivetrain and it's arguably better at putting along on the interstate and definitely perfect for better mileage when offroad torque is a consideration. I get 20mpg in 4LO putting along at 5mph. Tested three times, 19-21 every time. 23mph on my commute in 2wd to work.

That being said, without supercharging, is there seriously no tune effort made to this power train?

His original release info said download would only be available for 24 hours. But I thinking went longer than that by a few days. I suspect he’s incorporating feedback and updating additional ecu #’s.

Mat at OV has been working off and on a tune for the 2.7 for over a year but his bills are paid with the 3.5 platform. The following link will take you to the last page in his 2.7 thread where he hints at a boost option for the 2.7 trucks. You will be very happy with whatever he does. I have been tuned since 1.04 and have been very happy with each of his improvements. Hope this helps.

Probably wants to do it right. It’s a pile-o-work as stated by Mat in an earlier post:

    “ .. Here is our process >
our development truck has ECU ID 04B04.
We write out our code on 04B04 > test on our truck
Test 10x more on our truck.
    Release privately, 04B04 betas >
ensure no issues, or fix issues that arise from that >

Port development code up to newer ECU IDs > (2018)
Port development code + Throttle bug fixes (upcoming) to 2019s
Port development code backwards to older ECU IDs (04B03, 04B02. Which we highly recommend everyone upgrade to 04B04 if you have those anyway)

When we get our 2020 development truck (for adaptive cruise), then we just port backwards > 2019 > 2018 >
    and our 2017 truck to port backwards > 04B04 > 03 > 02 ...

Has anyone had the issue where you click "identify" and you never get a window showing that the truck was identified? Running p5 flash utility on 2017 AT truck. I also noticed that the "interflace" dropdown is blank on mine but it shows "J2534: Tactrix Inc. - OpenPort 2.0 J2534 ISO/CAM/VPW/PWM" in the image on the instructions.

If it doesn’t show tactrix there you have a problem with your install. Likely missing the drivers.

https://toyotatalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Tacoma-T-SB-0058-18.pdf Here ya go. Talked to the dealership service mgr and set up an appt. For Thursday at 8 AM. He tried to tell me about the warranty issue with my truck that I have more than 36,000 mi on it (implying that there is a cost for labor) and I said that the TSB is good for 96 months or 80,000 miles!
