As silly as it sounds, toytec tested the stock coil and found it to be 717lb I think. I refuse to believe that number though because I know plenty of people who run 590/600 lb coils with no weight, and will run 700 lb coils with extra weight and everyone loves the ride.

Now, I have no reason to not believe toytex. They're a reputable company.

I've got 600# springs on my Kings. What springs do you have on your Kings?

    You will.

I had those exact coils and after 1 year they sagged 1”. Plus they road like absolute jaw jacking crap on the OME medium setup (compared to coilovers that is)

The 3rd gen is considerably heavier in the front end than the 2nd gen (300lbs). The nose is longer (sticks out considerably farther) and the engine is much different. The 2nd gens run 600# and the 3rd gen need 700#.

Stiffness won’t come from coils (unless you are jumping huge gaps, like Dodge Ram coils on your taco...lol). Stiffness will come from improper valving. If you want the stance of your truck to last, 700# coils are foolproof.

I’ve gone through three different sets of shocks and I wish I would have known this from the start

I'm not sure how the Dakars differ from the deavers I have, but yes the standard length king shocks do limit the down travel of the springs. However I have never noticed it in any harsh way, there is a lot of down movement on them as is so you'll only notice it while rock crawling or crossing ditches sideways or something slow.

So yes, longer shocks would give you move travel which could help in techy spots, but it's never limited me yet, two wheels in the air is entertaining, and with the diff lock and 4x4 it's not too big of deal unless you're in crazy spots.
