DASAITA ANDROID 9.0 UNIT WITH APPLE CARPLAY WIRELESS AND OEM AUDIO PLUS

They messaged me on eBay saying 5-10 business days to receive it. I’m hoping sometime next week it’ll show up. They are located in Canton China a port city near Hong Kong so I’m guessing it’ll be on a boat to LA then a plane to me. I checked their feedback on eBay and tons of ppl commenting on fast shipping so that gave me some confidence that it wouldn’t take forever

Svermilyea, thanks for sharing your head unit (HU) upgrade - I am sure I am one of many TW members' contemplating on following your lead. Regarding all OEM systems controlled via the HU, have you found any vehicle systems/controls not support by the Dasaita unit? Finally, did the Dasaita support retaining the OEM audio/USB front inputs or are they now rendered inoperable?

Received my unit today. The top sort of has a runny paint look. Anybody else have similar?

Hmm not sure I understand where you see the runny paint. From the OP’s pix it looks like everything but the face of the unit gets covered by the bezel so if it sits behind the bezel it shouldn’t be an issue. I won’t have mine until next week to look at it first hand.

Is the face of the unit where you touch glass like an iPhone?

 

Feel like I need an all white room to take a pic in but it's right on the top of the bezel so it'll be visible

Is the head unit 9 inches across or diagonal? If someone could measure the height and length of the face plate that'd be great. thank you

 

It's 9 diagonally according to the ebay info

 

That might fit the sr5 bezel then, mines pretty close to 9 diagonal

 

Would this support android auto?

 

I doubt it, look at the OP's pix of his installed, the bezel on the SR5 has a lot saller opening than his, it almost meets the trim piece. I think you need one that goes in a truck that has the Entune Premium HU, or you can cut the SR5 bezel. I opted to grab a used one on ebay that has the larger opening. The screen is 9" but the HU has a black edge around the screeen so its probably more like 10-10.5"

 

It should, just make sure to ask before buying. It is a license.

 

I'm trying to determine this myself. I see lots of YouTube videos of ppl running Andoid Auto on similar android HU's. I also see loys of ppl using a "launcher" which looks to me is just an app to retheme the HU user interface to their liking, I'm very interested in that. I know absolutely nothing about android as I've been an Apple user for over a decade. If you know anything about Android/Android Auto please educate me

 

I've never used a vehicle with android auto or apple CarPlay, I ask if this has it because I hear it's a great thing to have.

With this unit I can still run google maps or waze right? If this thing acts like my phone with all the convenience of controlling it on the unit then I'm happy, I'm just tired of getting my maps running through my phone, or controlling pandora on my phone, reading texts on my phone etc...

 

The Tundra forum has about 40 pages on this. Its an android unit. You can run any app you want to run on it. Just hotspot it/tether your phone to it and let the android app run it. Yes, AA/ApplePlay is great to have and minimizes the stuff going on your phone, but it isn't a necessity with this head unit.

 

For those worried about long shipping times from Dasaita Official Store on eBay they seem to be on top of it. Mine shipped Monday and will be here in Louisiana on Friday! That’s pretty awesome from half way around the globe

 

Thanks for the update, I’m on the fence on upgrading head unit and considering eBay being cheaper than Amazon the reasonable shipping makes it a more attractive option. Please keep us all updates!
