    Guys,

I apologize if this is a re-post but I wanted to see what people have to say about this. With everything going on now-a-days, I think the Gov is retarded for not implementing this:

Please do not take this as a Political thread as that is not my intention.
I want to see a discussion about the Welfare/social services system.

If the mods deem this thread political and wish to close it, so be it.

I have at least two friends/acquaintances that I know smoke Ganja daily and sit on their asses receiving unemployment checks, happier than a fly on fresh horse shit. I realize that unemployment is different than welfare but I still don't think it's right that people are able to abuse the social services system as much as they do.

    THE JOB - URINE TEST

(Whoever wrote this one deserves a HUGE pat on the back!)

Like most folks in this country, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck in my case, I am required to pass a random urine test (with which I have no problem). What I do have a problem with is the
distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.

So, here is my Question: Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test toget a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?

Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their as# - doing drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much money each state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

I guess we could title that program, 'Urine or You're Out'.

Something has to change in this country
    -- and soon!!!!!!

This should be entertaining... Don't mix up welfare and unemployment though, they're completely separate. Your employer pays into your unemployment, which is why you can't get it if you quit your job.

Unemployment is a form of social welfare. This law should be mandatory for everyone but it will NEVER happen.

If you take money from the govt you gotta play by their rules. I am in favor of the test...I think the initial cost would be a little high but would recede in time. The regulation/law/rule what ever would also have to reflect if anyone attempted to alter the test by false means they would lose the benefit for a set period of time.

Sounds great to me but at what cost? Can the program be set it up to be effective in both cost and efficiency (not sure they can). When ways are found to beat the urine test will the program just be another hole we just through money into? Leaving the possibility for private/public exploitation like many other gov. programs.

I prefer a more cost neutral program. Before being handed your welfare check it would be neccesary for your dwelling and or property to be respectably clean of trash, garbage and graffiti. No property to clean, send thier asses out to pick up litter along our highways parks, and school yards. I bet our inner cities would be much nicer places once those collecting welfare get off thier asses and start doing something to improve thier communities. I'd call it "Work for Welfare".

The main logistical problems I see for this is the cost of operating/outsourcing the piss tests for people. The welfare system isn't exactly the most efficient of operations as it currently stands, and the implementation of urine testing (even randomly) would push the costs of an already squeezed program.

So, eventually, we taxpayers would end up paying MORE to initiate random drug/alcohol screenings.

Not to mention the ever present corruption, loopholes, back-room deals, fraud, etc., which tends to plague social programs....

There are already plenty of ways to beat a urine test. We drug test people here and hear about the new ways people have come up with to beat the system and it's a constantly growing, ever evolving list. Sadly, I think even if people did have to pass a piss test for welfare, it would only be effective for a short amount of time and the cost of implementation would be very large.

Haha, yeah, I guess so! I really like the idea of it and would probably back it if it ever came to light but, like everything with goverment, it's just not that simple.
