Help! 3rd gen coolant

I will get a good one on Saturday when I get it back up in the air and flush it.

 

No troubles. Just make sure to follow up so when people search in the future it's completely closed. I'm following along so when I do mine it's sorted. Post your bleeding procedure too, if u feel so inclined!

 

Does it look like a wing nut? If so, a 22mm socket will fit over it....as weird as it may sound

 

On the radiator yes, but the one on the block is a 10mm nut

 

Is the drain on the block far enough down that all the coolant will be drained from the engine? Seems like there would still be some residual old coolant somewhere in the system.

 

It's much lower than what is shown in the diagram. I won't know for sure how much comes out until i can work on it. I'll update when I do. I doubt I'm ever going to be able to get it all out without a vacuum pump. which is why I think i will flush it with new fluid, rather than with water.

 

So it's passengers side kinda low? Front or back of the engine?

 

@Skydvrr go out to your truck, bend down in the passenger wheel well, look through the opening between the wheel well liner skirting and the shock mount. You'll see the exhaust system right in front of you. Look below that, and slightly to the left, it's right there.

 

usually there is some coolant left in the heater core, which will mix in with the new coolant, as long as you don't introduce a non Toyota approved coolant into the system and follow the OEM guidelines on intervals when to change/drain it alls good. also the Toyota SLLC and LCC (red) are compatable with each other, but what I really don't understand is why the OP wouldn't use a OEM SLLC or aftermarket SLLC instead of the 50/50 LCC Red stuff, doesn't make no sense at all.

I used LLC because I thought the only difference was that it was a concentrate and not a premix. I.e. $30.00 for 1 gallon of concentrate that will make 2 gallons mixed, vs. $60.00 for 2 gallons SLLC pre mix.

I didn't buy pre mixed LLC.

When I was a tech at a euro shop we had a coolant vac that sucked as much fluid as possible out.. depending on the vehicle, and its capacity we could get 1-8 gallons out of them... there was one a mercedes I think.. I tried everything.. even using a narrow tube to get deep into the side tank.. I could only get 1.5 gallons out of it.. and put 1.5 gallons of new stuff in using the vac system.. I felt kinda sketched out by this.. and didnt feel it was a complete service/flush... I even asked my mentor/shop foreman.. he said it was ok... I was kinda stunned.. this was at a higher end independant shop.... just imagine what a dealership does..... this person was paying $80-100( or whatever it was...) for a coolant flush, and I could only exchange 1.5 gallons.... I did go to the coolant resivoir/overflow, and sucked out all I could from it, and the overflow lines... I was expecting him to tell me to yank the loqwer coolant hose..

 

Super long life has Sebacic Acid. Rust inhibitor I think. Long Life does not.

Use the super long life.
